A Week On The Wrist: The Longines Heritage Military COSD
Longines has been a Value Proposition favorite for very good reasons: thanks to their history, they have a pretty fantastic repertoire of great designs and historically important watches on which to draw, and the Heritage Longines watches are such an inexhaustible supply of great looking, reasonably priced vintage watches that I’ve often been tempted to just do the whole collection in one go and save you the trouble of reading a dozen different stories. However, sometimes a watch really is worth a stand-alone look-see, and the Heritage Military COSD is one of them. 1 OF 8 The short version of the story is that the Military COSD is based on a watch issued to the British military – in particular, paratroopers – during the Second World War. As such it looks to have been a very, very straightforward timepiece, designed for two objectives: economy, and sturdiness. Quintessential Calatrava-style AP from a different era...
Having recently received this recent acquisition back from independent servicing, I couldn't be more pleased. As the title of the post suggests, this model, to my mind and eye, embodies all of the classic design elements of the Calatrava line of watches made famous by Patek Philippe (and first introduced in 1932). Housed in a simple, yet elegant 35mm case, is arguably the finest hand-wind movement ever produced by AP: the Valjoux-based VZSSc (the sub-second version was VZSS). Cheers, Tony C.
Introducing myself...
Hey fellow AP nuts. I am glad I found the forum and look forward to participating and getting to know everyone. How about some AP wristy to introduce myself.
Omega Prices
Alright so when is the increase gonna happen? Omega going into this Boutique route and Basel 2012 just around the corner when are these prices gonna jump up. I believe if you are eyeing an Omega and having pulled the trigger yet now is the time to do it. There was another post saying that AD's are getting even less stock.
How remove/prevent scratches on S/S bracelet
Bought an Omega PO liquid metal recently, love the watch and my first Omega. To say I am pleased would be an understatement. Although I have managed to pick up numerous scratches on the bracelet, only minor nothing deep. Is their anything I can do myself to help reduce/prevent these without sending off to Omega. Any suggestions Thanks
