Blancpain 500 Fathoms Titanium Watch
Wow, I did not expect to see something so bold from Blancpain this year. This is a totally new route for their diving watches. At first I was torn about the look (didn't see to be much more than what Invicta could come up with), but then I began to appreciate the more subtle items. Retained are the sapphire crystal tops on the rotating bezel (such a nice feature by the way), and new are the hands, and the face. The hands are really designed for perfect legibility in both light and dark situations, not one or the other which is sometimes the fact. They also remind me of torpedoes. I think that is intentional. The wild looking lume on the face is also fucntion, and not just for show. Somehow, it seems to make the watch easy to read in the dark when you aren't used to simply using the hands.Blancpain opted to go with a light weight titanium case for this large 48mm wide watch. Added to the case is a helium escape valve, which might be useful for a handful of you out there. The original wa
I kinda like my Speedy without a bezel.
Interesting, isn't?
Nice AD gave me some gifts
Hi allJust a story I wanted to share, I had a short break in York (UK) and in the hotel I was staying at they had the following book in my room...I was obviously very pleased about that! Turned out the same book is in every room (so it was not special treatment lol). So inside the book it had the name of the local AD and obviously I had to visit wearing my Breitling Colt! They are a lovely bunch and they could see my knowledge and enthusiasm for the brand (I flashed my Patek wallet lol). I told them about the book in the hotel and they obviously knew all about that. I asked if they had a spare copy of the book and they said yes and popped it in a nice bag for me. We carried on talking, I tried on the 5119r and showed pictures of my collection. Then a lady put a box on the table and said we want you to have this. A lovely Patek Philippe tie!! I was overwhelmed, I have bought nothing from them ever. They even invited me to their private party in November where they are going to have some
Steel and Rose Gold Nautilus
Just picked up a PP 2013 Collection catalog and saw a photo of the new for 2013 reference 5980/1AR-001 Steel and Rose Gold Nautilus. I'm not a fan of that look on the Nautilus, maybe it looks better live. Anybody out there seen one? Is this the first modern times steel and gold men's watch from PP? Curious as to what you think about this model.
Dents on 1950 Case
I have a PAM312 (with 1950 case), and it sits higher than most other watches, so I find myself unintentionally hitting the case on things like desks more often than with my other watches. Anyone else have this issue or is it just me?I've managed to get a few, minor nicks and dents on the bezel and case of my PAM 312. Would Panerai service be able to remove the minor ones? And are the bezels replaceable?
