Contessa by Eterna - Women's Watch 2009
Contessa by Eterna - Women's Swiss Watch modelIt's very hard to please a woman. Especially when we come armed with knowledge, taste, and high expectations. It must be even more difficult for such a traditional manufacture to create a dynamic timepiece for modern women that includes technological performance and aesthetic appeal. But I must admit that Eterna has done just that with its latest Contessa models.Since 1865, the watchmakers of Eterna have toiled to maintain their image of perfection and selectivity. The exclusivity of this brand makes it that much more desirable. Known for the precision of their slim movements, Eterna is brand that stays true to itself and its traditions, even in today's fluctuating markets.Eterna - Nothing But Watchmaking - was able to create a dynamic, versatile timepiece that is distinctively feminine yet a still a fine timepiece. Their use of different textures within the dial creates an immediate, emotional response that cyclically moves your eyes across
A pair of "oldies but goodies"
My 18k RG bumper automatic and 18k YG Rolex bubbleback automatic:Both date from ~1950.I've had the Omega for several years and refer to it as my special occasion watch. The Rolex was acquired a couple of weeks ago out of the estate of this gentleman:C. Thomas ClagettThe Rolex came on a 14k YG mesh as shown here:As you may recall, the Omega also came on a 14k mesh. That bracelet is known as a rainbow mesh as it is comprised of RG, WG, and YG:The Rolex will soon be going off for some polishing and service but I wanted a photo of the two together before that happens.Fr. What he said
I recently saw the 5204R at an AD, although I didn't get a chance to try it on the wrist due to time constraints. What are your thoughts on this watch? I have tried on the 5204P white and black dials before and although the RG looks nice on the 5270, it didn't seem as warm on the 5204. Maybe it is something to get used to as the 5204R is such a new watch. Here is a stock photo from the Patek website. When I saw the watch in person behind the glass display it didn't stand out as much as the stock photo.
Rolex VS Patek
I often hear people saying that Patek, or AP are better watches then Rolex. Why is that? I know there are made a lot less Patek's then Rolex's and that in general a patek is more expensive then a Rolex. I also know that Patek got lot's of watches with more complications then a Rolex. But as fare as I know that is more or less it.I do not know who got the best movements wean it comes to toughness and durability of the brands. Anyone know this? I would guess that if Rolex does not got the best they are very close. But I do know that most Rolex's are more water proof then most Patek's, I know Rolex use 904L steel, while patek use 316L. I know Rolex got everose gold, while Patek just got rosegold. So from my point of view it seems like a Rolex, will withstand the test of time and daily use better then a Patek? And for me that is what is important. The price, the amount of watches produced is not of great importance to me. Neither are the complications. I only really need date and time, th
