Showing at WatchTime IBG 2014: Breguet Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Automatique
WatchTime and noted watch collector and expert Jeff Kingston have teamed up again for the 2014 edition of the popular Inside Basel.Geneva series of collector events, kicking off tomorrow night, September 5, in Chicago. Among the core sponsoring watch brands is Breguet, which will showcase its Breguet Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Automatique 5377 at the events. The Breguet Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Automatique 5377, which the brand says is the world’s thinnest self-winding tourbillon watch, comes in either a platinum or rose-gold case that measures 42 mm in diameter and an astoundingly slender 7 mm thick. Its movement, manufacture Caliber 581DR, is only 3 mm thick. The off-centered tourbillon carriage is made of titanium and protected by a number of patents. The movement is also fitted with a non-magnetic silicon balance spring and an escapement made of silicon and a special non-magnetic steel. Also notable are the movement’s high energy barrel, which provides a
Reactor Releases Top-Selling Gamma in Titanium
Southern California-based Reactor is introducing their top-selling Gamma watch in titanium. The original Gamma, introduced in 2008, quickly became the brand’s #1 seller. The new titanium version weighs 50% less than the stainless steel model yet features the same 45.5mm case and 300 meter depth rating. The new titanium model also offers Reactor’s exclusive, patent-pending Never Dark illumination, which allows viewing in any light for over 12 years. Never-Dark is a proprietary lighting system that combines intensely bright Swiss Superluminova with long-lasting tritium gas-filled tubes. The Gamma Ti’s K-1 crystal has 4 layers of anti-glare coating to make it easier to read under water. The watch also has a unidirectional timing bezel and a day/date movement with 10-year power cell. Like all Reactors, Gamma Ti features a triple o-ring screw-down crown system for added water resistance, and a secure screw bar case-to-band interface. The Gamma Ti will ship in early March wi
I Am Not Cool Enough For This Watch, But I Want to Be: Zenith Defy Extreme
Zenith has come a long way from being a maker of fine movements to fine looking watches. Having died for a while some years ago, the brand returned vigilant in its desire to make bold looking watches without counterpart. The Zenith Defy Extreme line is the epitome of that pursuit. Nothing looks quite like it, and at the same time, it does not require any particular explanation to justify itself. It seems to be the logical extension of the brute looks, Hollywood military design, and exotic materials that make up the models.Just look at the propellers that make up the sub dials and you will know what this watch professes to move forward with a high velocity. Then you will notice the stars that make up some of the numeral indicators and think you are a general wearing their watch to battle. No other timepiece I know says luxury with military hints in quite the same way.I have a fondness for watches like this because they embody pure utilitarian fantasy. There is probably no person in the
Patek blue
As some of you know I love blue dial watches, and especially the Patek blue dials, they make, IMHO, the most amazing blue dials, here are a few pics of the blue dial models that I found, there are others of course but these are the main ones.Tell me what you think about these watches 5524G_001-2.png5711_1A_010.png5712_1A_001.png5905P_001-2.png
In the wild today....
In a 30 minute span while walking down Abbott Kinney in Venice Beach California today, I have seen a vintage looking AP (two tone I think), a Daytona ceramic white dial and a WG BLRO!!!! In just 30 minutes.I hope they all consulted TRF first about whether it was safe to walk around wearing these fine timepieces...I feel like a bum in my 116610LN right now.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
