Breaking News: Christie's New York To Hold 'The Omega Speedmaster 50' Thematic Sale This December
It's safe to say the Omega Speedmaster is one of the most universally adored timepieces in all the land. Its combination of timeless design, excellent movement and build quality, plus its superior place in the global cultural narrative, elevate it beyond simply a watch to a downright icon of American, and even world, history. Today, we are thrilled to announce that Christie's will be celebrating this iconic chronograph with a thematic sale entitled "OMEGA SPEEDMASTER 50: From A Spacewalk To Today." 1 OF 6 The 50-lot sale marks the half-century anniversary of the Omega Speedmaster's first trip into space, on the wrist of Gemini IV astronaut Ed White during his history-making space walk. The sale will follow the Speedmaster's entire history – beginning its life as a racer's chronograph – with early examples of the seldom seen references 2915-1 and 2915-2. The sale will continue with exemplary specimens from the early 2998 series, mo
Are we in a 5711 "bubble"?
So, we all know that that 5711 is absurdly, hilariously difficult to get these days. And gray market is even worse. I even found myself considering a 5711R before slapping some sense into myself today. So, curious everyone - do you think we're in the middle of a bubble on this piece? Or is this the new reality on steel Patek sports watches?
Easter Magic: Incoming!
After uttering the words nautilus aren't for me many times, I suddenly developed an insatiable itch for wanting to own THE nautilus. Once a watch nut gets an idea in their head, as many of you know, there is only one way to scratch that itch: INCOMINGIMG_0168.jpgWhile for years I preferred the 15202 over the 5711 as I found the 15202 to be the original Genta and loved the lack of a seconds hand, legendary caliber and the bracelet on it, my initial impressions of the 5711 1/A are very good. The watch is incredibly comfortable and the dial is really magical how it changes in the light: probably the only correct answer is to own both! FullSizeRender (2).jpgLook at those ears!FullSizeRender.jpgUntil KarlS ships me his 5711P, we will make due with these two blue dials.IMG_0176.jpgThanks to various TRF members and friends with whom I've chatted offline (cc: goog53, JorgeCCW, racerdj and subtona)! Have a great weekend and Easter holiday.IMG_0177.jpg
Another would you do it thread
Hi everyone! I currently have a 233 AM/PM dial and a 311. I've suddenly got the uncontrollable urge to own a 47mm Pam, a 372 to be exact. I have a offer to trade my 233 for a brand new 372 plus $500. A tobacco dial is a must for me so trading up the 233 for a 372 and keeping my 311 is the plan. That would give me a super nice Chrono with fairly busy dial and the base of all bases. Thoughts on this deal please?
