Answering The Question Of Who watches-dealer Works For
If you are someone that likes watches, possibly buys watches, and are reading this with your "consumer hat" on, then you are who watches-dealer works for. Why do I feel the need to say this? That is a good question and why I wrote this essay. In short, it is because the word "support" really bothered me. Sometimes, I like to offer an "inside baseball" look at what goes on behind the scenes at watches-dealer, and what it is like owning or working for a web magazine that covers watches and what is essentially the luxury industry. In addition to offering people insight about what we do, I of course have a deeper agenda and sometimes like to correct mistakes that I sometimes observe in the industry.Today, that mistake is who watches-dealer works for, and sometimes people tend to think it is for the brands. In fact, most of the people who believe that are the actual watch brands themselves. They aren't doing it out of malice or contempt, but rather that they are just so used to luxury and l
Birthday surprise for me

40th anniversary RO 15202.. Worth the wait over a 15300?
Hi all..Got a ROO Panda (which is unfortunately stuck in the service centre) recently, but it's arrival only made me lust for my next piece..Had originally set my sights on the new 40th anniversary RO Jumbo.. Unfortunately havent had a chance to experience it on the wrist, as I have been told by the boutique and ADs that stock will only arrive next year.. My lust for it has been based mainly on what guys like yourselves have been sayingNow I'm wondering what you guys feel, especially for those that have owned the piece as well as a 15300.. Do you think it's worth the significant price differential? Haven't had a change to try on a 15300 either as it has been discontinued, so can't really find out which piece sings to me more on the wrist..15202 will definitely take a much longer time in terms of saving up for it.. But definitely a nice preowned 15300 will not be easy to find as well, since it has been discontinued.I am aware of the differences eg power reserve, lack of second hand, the
Are you a strap addict?
So I've been spending way too much time looking at straps lately. The last time this happened a few years ago, I ended up with a box full of straps and even more Panerais (you of course need more watches when you have so many straps! ). It took me 4 months to purge all the straps (and most of my PAMs). Fortunately I caught myself and came to my senses last night after I ordered my third strap this week. I won't fall into that expensive trap again. You can buy a new Rolex on what some of us have spent on straps! So how many is too many? Does 5 straps per size seem reasonable?
