SIHH 2015: Baume & Mercier’s New Classima Collection
At SIHH in Geneva, Baume & Mercier presented its redesigned Classima collection. Targeted at entry-level consumers, the Classima line includes men’s steel and two-tone automatic models. The Classima collection’s new watches are 3-hand models with date display. They are built off of a Sellita SW200 base caliber, similar to the ETA 2824. It beats at 28,800 vph and how a power reserve of 38 hours. It runs in 26 jewels. The men’s Classima is 40 mm in diameter and 8.95 mm thick. It has blued steel hands for the hour, minutes and seconds. Applied hour indexes include Roman numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. A date window is at 3 o’clock. One of the defining aesthetic features of the watch is its inner dial, where the silver-colored opaline is engraved with a straight-line guilloch design. This guilloch technique has been used on the dials of past Classima watches, but the new models broaden the ridges for a more reserved look.Through the sapphire-crystal cas
Introducing the Junghans Meister Pilot Event-Edition
The past couple of years been a golden age of vintage reissues, from the Tudor Heritage Chrono to the W&W favorite Oris Diver's Sixty-Five, and Junghans' new announcement looks to continue the trend. The Junghans Meister Pilot Event Edition picks up the legacy of Junghans' own J88 Bundeswehrchronograph of 1955, the under-appreciated second part of a trifecta of watches made for the reassembling German military that also included the mono-pusher Hanhart 417 and the legendary Heuer Bund.Nowadays Junghans certainly makes some incredibly attractive designs, like the Max Bill line, but the majority of these pieces trend toward stark minimalism. The Meister Pilot Event Edition represents only the second dive into more retro designs for the brand after last year's gorgeous Meister Telemeter, and one that on paper could be lost in a sea of flieger chronographs. One look at the Meister Pilot Event Edition puts that fear to rest. The clear standout element here is the unique scalloped bezel
Scratched right out of the factory sealed plastic? WWYD?
Dear all,My humble thanks once again to one and all here for the kind encouragement, advice, and help procuring my 1st PP. In case you missed it:.rolexforums/showthread.php?t=431515I was inspired to start this thread for 2 reasons:1. Another poster got me thinking about scratches on his own Nautilus which got me thinking about my own Aquanaut. There were some great pics posted by others on what to expect through normal wear and what they have encountered. .rolexforums/showthread.php?t=4365142. My 5164 Aquanaut arrived sealed in the factory packaging from the AD. When I very carefully (know my way around me watches!) opened it I noticed 2 scratches evident on the bezel at the 3 and 4 0'clock positions (see pics):[IMG][IMG]I'm guessing that they're tool marks from manufacturing but as the brushed and polished areas of these watches are so prone to scratching, that's just my guess. I informed my AD about this within a day or 2 of receiving it and sent him the pics. He informed his
