Hands-On: With The Tissot Powermatic 80 Chronometer (Live Pics & Pricing)
Along with the vintage-inspired worldtimer, Tissot released an update of their popular Powermatic line at this year's Basel World. The new Powermatic 80 Chronometer is an extremely straightforward watch with an 80 hour power reserve and chronometer certified movement, giving you a lot of timekeeping power for your money. The handsome package is an added bonus and here's a hands-on look at this high-value watch from Tissot. 2 OF 10 80 Hour Power Reserve and COSC Chronometer Certification COSC-certification is nothing new for Tissot. A few months ago we gave you an in-depth review of their Le Locle Chronometre, winner of the 2012 Concours International de Chronometrie timing competition (spoiler alert, we liked it). The movement inside this Powermatic 80 Chronometer is a COSC-certified ETA C07.111, which is essentially an ETA 2824 with a beefed up 80-hour power reserve, lower friction materials, and a balance beating at 3Hz instead of 4Hz. RB2 Ti Vs Grand Prix Carbon. Which do you choose?
Being that these two limited editions are quite sought after but still have a different aesthetic, which do you go for and why? I'd love to hear some banter as to what makes one better than the other. Seems as if RB2 people consider it the best ever, but the Grand Prix size and presence seems to be a big hit with others as well. thoughts?VS
Breitling Super Ocean "Heritage 46"
I had this beast strapped on my wrist yesterday. I liked it a lot. Especially the rubber strap: It has a facility in the clasp that allows for ultra-fine adjustment.Your thoughts??(source: this site where there is also more information about the watch).
Omega SMP Professional Chronometer losing time!
My SMP professional that I purchased in 2000 is currently losing about 28 seconds a day, or 3.25 MINUTES a week. Way outside Chronometer standards. Should I have it sent in for service? It's never been opened (red seal still intact). If so, send it to Switzerland? If so, what is the process and anticipated cost(s)? Thanks in advance!
