What Is Seiko Kinetic Direct Drive? An Evolved Quartz Kinetic Movement; The Answer Is Here
We are lucky that Seiko spends as much time as they do in the lab dreaming up new movements. In fact, Seiko watches now come in at least five different movement flavors. You can get a traditional quartz movement, an automatic mechanical movement, a quartz Kinetic movement, a quartz Kinetic Direct Drive movement, and a quartz regulated Spring Drive mechanical movement. Seiko's dream seems to be combining the best of both worlds in terms of quartz and mechanical movements. Arguably the Spring Drive embodies this dream as it looks like an automatic mechanical movement, but has the accuracy of a quartz movement. Before coming out with the Spring Drive movement, Seiko created the Kinetic movement. The idea was simple. Take the rotor from an automatic mechanical movement, and instead of having it wind a main spring, have it charge a battery. Tintin
Was surprised to see this Tintin Speedy in an AD today! I thought they were sold out long ago. Or are they not really that hard to find?
5711P - discontinued
So it looks like the 5711P has been fully discontinued according to my AD.I was offered the opportunity to buy one last year and mulled it over for a few months - when I made the decision to pull the trigger my AD was informed that it was no longer available to order. So i missed out on having the ultimate luxury sports watch in my collection
Orbita Sempre Pro Manual Winder
Does anyone own or has experience with the Obita Sempre Pro watch winder made for manual winding watches. I came to the realization this week that i am going to need something to keep the 5270 wound given I travel quite a bit and don't feel like re-setting it every time I wear it. To many a complications to set every time.Let me know or if there are other options. Thanks!.watchtime/blog/orbita...-wind-watches/
Bracelet clasp question (seems broken)
It has been quite a while since the last time I had posted in this forum. I have a question regarding my 116520 (Random serial) bracelet clasp. At a glance from the top it looks that the clasp is slanted. When I was looking at it at the opened clasped, the clasped fold back lifted out from the main clasp. I have some photos to describe the issue. Has anyone had similar issues?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
