Dodane 1857 Type 23 Black PVD Watch
When it comes to aviation watches, we're generally limited to watches that follow a particular style (say, a flieger reference), or perhaps something that's based on a model from a brand's archives. It's a much less common thing for us to have available a civilian variant of a model that's available to an active military air force - but that's precisely what we've got with this new model from Dodane 1857.Interestingly, this new PVD version of their popular Type 23 model had its development funded by by the sale of specific watches (750 in total) to members of France's Air Force (makes for a rather interesting and specific military tie-in, for sure). Given those ties, it's not a surprise that Dodane is using a movement designed to conform to military requirements for toughness and accuracy, the Calibre 2030.Of course, you don't just have to take Dodane's word for it. If you like, via a special order process, you can have the movement in your new watch certified by the Besan?on Observato
Hands-On: The Montblanc Boheme Moongarden
I have never seen a watch like this before. Sure, it looks like a watch I have seen before, but when you take a close look you realize that this isn't your average calendar watch. This particular watch is called the Moongarden and it is a new addition to the Bohème, Montblanc's collection for women. What makes this watch so different you ask? Well I will get into that in a bit, but first a little background on Montblanc and their women's watches.Montblanc was founded in 1906 in Hamburg, Germany, as a pen-making company. In 1988 it became part of the Richemont group and then later in 1997 it began making watches in Le Locle, Switzerland. However, it wasn’t until 2008 when the brand began creating their own in-house movements with the caliber MB R100. With each year, Montblanc has pushed the boundaries with innovative, well-made designs that are reasonably priced (see the Meisterstück Heritage Perpetual Calendar for $13,000). This continues to be a running t

Boutiques vs. ADs
Hi,Forgive me but I don't understand something. Hoping you all can clarify?I was always under the impression that an AD is something like Tourneau or Mayors Jewelers (both of which I have visited locations of.) Several brands such as Rolex, Panerai, IWC, Chopard, Breitling, Tudor, etc under one roof. With a boutique being set up BY the brand to sell only that particular brand?!For instance - AP in NYC on 57th, and the Bal Harbour MIA location. Now, I've been to both and KNOW for a fact that ONLY AP is sold in these boutiques.^^ Those ARE AP boutiques, correct? And, is that logic correct??With that said, and with talk on here of moving toward boutiques and away from ADs - what will happen to stores such as these - of which, again, I have visited every single one in person and KNOW they sell multiple brands in the one store??Swiss Fine Timing - Magnificent Mile, ChicagoExquisite Timepieces - Naples FLHing Wa Lee - Walnut CAWestime - Beverly Hills CAWestime - La Jolla (San Diego) CAThey may
