Audemars Piguet Celebrates its 135th Anniversary and Launches a New Royal Oak Offshore
On October 5, Audemars Piguet Japan held the brand’s 135th anniversary and new product launch party in the Choice! restaurant on the third floor of Tokyo’s prestigious Ark Mori building. The event was attended by 500 guests including VIPs, celebrities and media. The evening included the launch of a new Royal Oak Offshore limited edition. Mr. Go Mugino, Chief Executive Officer of Audemars Piguet Japan, introduced the evening's first “special guests”: brand founders Jules-Louis Audemars and Edward-Auguste Piguet appeared in a hologram to greet attendees. Through the wonders of technology, they talked about the history of AP and the watch industry in general, and how things have changed since the time they first started. There aren’t too many more inherently refined animals in the horological bestiary than monopusher, two-register, column-wheel chronographs. They have a certain archaic fascination – I suppose you could say that about just about any mechanical watch, as far as that goes, but the single-button chronograph is the earliest type of chronograph watch mechanism, and the column wheel the earliest known type of control system for switching on and off, and for reset. 1 OF 6 Vintage monopusher chronographs from major names like Patek Philippe can go for – well, see for yourself; and while there has been a bit of an increase in the number of monopusher chronographs at the less costly end of the spectrum in recent years (not that less than $5 million is setting the bar very high for “less costly”) like this very nice one from IWC that launched this year, they still have a bit of an aura of exclusivity, which, naturally, things like this monopusher rattrap

First foray into Omega!
Been eyeing omega for sometime now and when the 60th anniversary speedmaster was announced I knew it was the one to have. However, because of the delay I actually cancelled the order. Fast forward a couple of weeks ago and the bug hit again. But apparently they were sold out internationally. Luckily a forum member notified me of one available at an AD and I had to pull the trigger. Ladies and gentleman, this is seriously amazing! No wonder collectors of all shapes and sizes love the speedy so much. Now can't wait for 2019 and see what they release for the 50th anniversary of the Apollo missions. Definitely a new omega fan! Life span of current planet ocean?
Any rumours of omega releasing a new model? (and discontinuing the current?) Happened to the original 2500. How likely is it omega will release a revamped range of models sporting the new master co axial?

COSC Certificate for Railmaster on its way . . .
The charge on my American Express card just showed up online (even though the Omega put it through on January 29th) for the COSC Certificate on my 36.2mm Railmaster. The CHF 50 hit my account as USD 48.47. I'm a box, papers, etc. kind of guy, so I just had to order more paper.
