Concord Watches Ride The Hype Machine
Something positive first. I give credit to Concord, or whoever Concord is hiring for being creative. Though I question the effectiveness of it all. I have to first pull myself aside and consider my own position in the watch world. Someone in the know, someone who sees most of what comes out. So consider this a biased opinion by someone who might know what they are talking about. A bit of history - Concord is owned by the Movado group, and couple of years ago it was likely decided that because the brand was not pulling its weight, they would attempt to revitalize the brand into a different kind of manly high end watch. For this they repositioned the brand as a niche product maker and hired a new president in 2006, Vincent Perriard. Since then Concord has released one watch, the C1 - In a bunch of different flavors.I've never been quiet about the fact that I don't like the design of the Concord C1. I've also been pretty straight forward on how I feel about their new QuantumGravity watch
Seamaster GMT problem
Hi(Apologies for the post length but the full story may help)A couple of years ago my 50th anniversary model GMT developed a problem, the 12 hour hand was moving on intermittently and did not jump one full hour when crown turned. The guy who usually looks after my watches was too busy so i found another repairer quite local. Watch was serviced and all appeared well but after several weeks i noticed the date was changing at 0600 hours. I sent it back and it was rectified but after a few weeks it was doing the same. This went on for a while but communications broke down between us so i just wore the watch as was.The 12 hour hand is now sticking at 1000 and twitches but doesn't move on. The guy i know is not as busy now so has the watch but he can't seem to identify the problem. He is well experienced (50+ years) but doesnt use the internet hence me seeking advice. He has replaced the 24 hour wheel, setting wheel and experimented with various tensions on the date change wheel. He
The New Time piece...
Had to order this as my AD didn't stock it, I'm not a fan of the 9 link bracelet that comes on most Seamasters and 007 models so I got this:
AD says 510 not available till September
I'm in Canada and tried finding out if the 000...005..111 and even the 510 and was told by the AD that none are available and the 510 won't be available till September. I thought the 510 was released last year? Shouldn't it be available. The only one they had in stock around my price range is a 113 but don't know if I can pull the trigger on my first PAM as a white faced one. Is the 510 really not available anywhere in Canada yet? I would at least like to track a 111 new from an AD. I always feel comfortable buying from an AD.Are there no discounts on any Panerai...or is it just the base models they don't discount? Thanks.
SD43 and SubC: Dial Comparison?
Can anyone with both watches take a picture that compares the two dials side-by-side? I thought I read somewhere that the hour markers are slightly larger on the SD43: True? How about the date font/cyclops: same size, or larger on the 43?I'm considering both watches, understanding that I will have a good bit of time to wait for an SD43 if I decide to go that route, but my tired old eyes could always benefit from bigger everything. If the differences are really minimal, I may just jump on a Sub.Cheers
