Review: Techn GosHawk (Ref. 411)
Previously on worn&wound we've discussed those watches or watch brands that manage to achieve superb design and quality in a surprisingly / unbelievably affordable price point.? Think Steinhart with their $400, ETA powered pieces, or the $200 Maratac Pilot with a quality automatic and sapphire crystal the size of your head. ?Having spent some time with the $338?Techn GosHawk (and previously Sparrowhawk) I am beginning to think that Techn deserves a place in that conversation.?The GosHawk pairs unique aviator styling and excellent craftsmanship with a quality Japanese automatic movement and superior components.Case: Bead Blasted Stainless SteelMovement: Miyota 8217 AutomaticDial: BlackLume: C3Lens: Sapphire with AR coatingStrap: “Saddle” Oiled LeatherWater Res.: 50mDimensions: 41.4mm x 48.7mmThickness: 12.5mmLug Width: 20mmCrown: Screw downWarranty: 1 YearCaseThe case of the GosHawk is simple and clean, matching an aesthetic seen throughout the watch. Hands-On: With The Patek Philippe 5140R And 5140P, Classic Perpetuals Both With New Dial Options For 2014
While the two big releases for Patek Philippe at Basel World this year both happened to be in stainless steel (the new Nautilus Chrono Travel Time 5990 / Annual Calendar Chrono 5960A), it's worth noting that one of its more understated and elegant, but important, timepieces received two updates. The reference 5140 is Patek's round, traditional perpetual calendar, and this year we saw two brand new dials. It is the follow up to the iconic 3940, which is considered to be one of the most important pieces of Patek's modern history – many consider it, along with the 3970, the first serially produced truly complicated timepiece. Its 20-year reign came to an end in 2006 when Patek showed the 5140, which would use the same ultra-thin, self-winding, micro-rotor-powered caliber 240Q. Since then, the 5140 has been shown in white gold, yellow gold, rose gold with brown dial, and platinum with a blue dial. 2 OF 4 The platinum case with a galvanized black dial features
Mooncakes - OP Style
I missed it this year as I was away on a job but we've just had the mid-Autumn festival, which is on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar year. A big part of the festival is the production and consumption of mooncakes. Depending on their contents, mooncakes can range from ok to meh to positively vile. However, these ones are like nothing I've seen before. They were given to me by most awesome friends at OP Singapore and I'm not sure if I should actually eat them
Rolex Sub 116610LN and 116613LN
Hi everyone, I currently own the sub 116610LN and was looking for a dressier Rolex. I could find anything more interesting than the Sub TT 116613LN. I would love to know your opinion on this matter. Thanks
