Rubberclad Bezel-Rubber replacement
So I'm sure this has been asked before but my search using the search-function has found me no results in the 20 minutes I back tracked so I will pose this question to the good people here on the AP subsection.Have any of you had the rubber on any of your rubberclads replaced? I've e-mailed AP service here in Japan and in the US and they both say the entire bezel (with metal), must be replaced.I could have sworn that wasn't the case...
Gents, pls help make my choice easier...
Hi gents, am now in the final stages of joining the AP club and after reading through what this brilliant forum has to offer, have finally narrowed down to 2 choices. My wrist is about 6.75' and have a couple of wrist shots to show. Was also thinking of the RG ROC in black face as well. The white face I felt was a little mature for me though.. Pls help me make my choice easier please...if you have any other suggestions pls feel free to let me know too! Thanks in advance guys...Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Another Incoming? 5270g!
The benchmark reference from the benchmark watchmaker: a perpetual calendar chronograph from Patek Philippe.I had a hard time deciding between the 5970g and the 5270g. I was lucky enough to handle both at the same time.I tried the 5970g. It looked great but when I handled the 5270g, it looked more legible and it was love at first sight. The day/night indicators on the lower left and the leap year indicator on the lower right made it more legible and cleaner vs. 5970g that's inside the sub dials, not to mention the tachymeter which made the 5970g busier. Some say the 5270 does not have the Patek DNA but I really don't agree with this. Check out Eric Clapton's 2499 and the latest 5270g is exactly like it, without the tachymeter. It looks clean upsized at 41mm which I think is very nice relative to its thickness. Another factor that made me decide to get the 5270g instead of any previous models is because it is in house movement. I have handled a Lemania from the previous generation and I
What's your story?
Lately I've been reading some good nice feel Rolex stories like Jack Nicklaus wearing just one watch, a DD 1803 since 1967.I've also read a story where a man purchased his Rolex (forgot which model) like 50 years ago and that was his only watch. He told stories of significant milestones of his life while wearing the watch - from huge events like his wedding, the birth of his children to as mundane everyday human stories. If you look at his watch, you could actually see and feel that it's been to war and survived the battles. And that makes it special. What makes our watches special? We all have the same watches. There's nothing significant when we bought it because there are hundres of thousand in production out there somewhere in the world. What makes our watch special are the stories and every story is unique. So just recently, I've decided to sell all of my stuff (Rolex, Omegas, Pams, Breitlings, Tags, etc), some were handed off to my wife and I retained only 3 - A Sub date, GMT II an
