Apple Hires Marc Newson, iWatch Smartwatch Watches Likely To Be Designed With His Help
Big news today as Apple has announced its official hiring of Australian designer Marc Newson, who will work directly with Apple's head of design (Sir) Jonathan Ive. My understanding is that Newson will retain his ability to work with third party clients, but don't expect him to be designing watches for anyone else. Apple hasn't specified what Marc Newson will be working on specifically, but I believe it is safe to say that his first major projects will be on the iWatch (or iTime, or whatever Apple decides to call its upcoming smartwatch device).Of course, the big question everyone has is whether or not Apple will announce a smartwatch device next week during their annual new product announcement conference. Many people seem very confident that Apple will release a smartwatch this year or in early 2015, but I am not so convinced. Omega History Help
So I've been browsing the forums and internet crazily over the past few days and have yet to really find information that I can really believe. So I pose a few questions for you Omega Vets. What makes Omega a special watch?Where are they made in comparison to the Swiss Rule aka 50% and are the main components made in Switzerland and does it really matter. Is there a big difference between the automatic and manual wind watches.. do true Omega buffs look down upon those who have the automatic versions. If there is anything else I should know within the context of these questions that I may have missed, feel free to make note. Thanks a lot.
5110P vs 3940G?
Hi everyone,After several modern Pateks, I am looking to add a more vintage looking piece. My budget is $40K. I am looking right now at 5110P or 3940G, which are somewhat similarly priced. What would be your recommendation? Or do you have other suggestions? I do have a calendar Patek (AC 5205G) but I guess the PC wouldn't be too much overlap. Greatly appreciate any advice. Also, I would be grateful if someone could PM a good and not too overpriced 2nd hand dealer in the US who might have any of these watches. Thanks so much!
SIHH 2011 Panerai report Part 1
My trip to SIHH was not as direct as most would have flown.I flew to Shanghai from Montreal, drove to Ningbo, flew to HK for a couple of days, and then finally Royal Jordanian to Switzerland with a transit connection in Amman :-)At HK airport!Boarding :-)Settling in! :-) Almost there! I arrived in Amman at 5AM and had the chance to see the sun rise :-) :-) :-)Lounge:Time for my connecting flight to Zurich:Yummy, very familiar snack ;-)Arriving in Zurich where I met up with some buddies for drinks/dinner! I had an early train the next morning to Lausanne for meeting and had to wait for the Starbucks to finally open:At the IOC in Lausanne:The first evening was dedicated to IWC with a gala invitation. Here are some pix with some of the special guests in attendance ;-)I was ready the following morning and just needed a little espresso to kick start the day :-)At SIHH:There are so many people I want to thank for the wonderful opportunity to be invited to see the new releases......Jean-Sebas
