Showing at WatchTime New York 2015: Ball Engineer Master II Slide Chronograph
Have you secured your ticket yet for America's luxury watch show? WatchTime New York, taking place October 23-24 at Manhattan's Gotham Hall, boasts more than 20 watch brands displaying their new timepieces for 2015 (Click here for event details and to purchase tickets). Among the sponsor brands is the always innovative Ball Watch Co., which will showcase its Ball Engineer Master II Slide chronograph, which uses a mechanical slide, rather than traditional pushers, to start, stop and reset the stopwatch.Breaking with the traditional architecture of both the two-pusher and the monopusher system, the mechanism in the Ball Engineer Master II Slide Chronograph combines the start, stop, and zero-reset mechanisms in a single integrated control, located at the 9 o’clock position on the case. This so-called “slide chronograph” developed and patented by Ball Watch uses a circular slide bar fitted around the movement. A clockwise rotation of this slide bar (i.e., moving the s
5 Dress/Business-Casual Watches for Under $1k 2014
A couple of years ago, we did a guide for dress watches under $1k. Looking at it now, I feel it's time to do another one, with some different options. The watches mentioned there are still valid, but we've seen plenty of watches since then that make the cut too. That said, true dress watches are not really that common, nor really that needed. Rather, watches that are good for work and the occasional formal setting, but could probably be worn whenever and wherever, made the list. So, if you're looking for an alternative to you divers, pilots and tool watches, here are a few good options.Orient Bambino $182?We just reviewed this one last week; between the price and the style it's a sure fire winner. Rose gold markers, pearlescent dial, and an insane domed crystal come together for a design that feels vintage, but doesn't look derivative. If you're on a budget, it's also just one of the best buys out there, with a Japanese made automatic movement and a price tag of $182. But, you don't ha
Three On Three: Comparing The Patek Philippe 5170G, The Vacheron Constantin Harmony Chronograph, And
There is something special about a hand-finished, manually wound, in-house chronograph. It is a category that houses so many of the timepieces to which so many of us aspire to own – and today we will compare three of the very best available in the world today. This original HODINKEE Three On Three pits heavyweight contenders from A. Lange & Söhne, Vacheron Constantin, and Patek Philippe against one another in several categories: design, finishing, wearability, and collectibility. The thing about this comparison is, quite simply, there is no wrong choice – we purposefully selected the finest manually wound chronographs we could think of – all priced similarly – to be able to highlight each watch's strengths and weakness, of which there are many.Have a look at our video first and then read on for the details of these three incredible timepieces. The History Of The In-House, Manually Wound Chronograph The first thing that one must underst

What do you guys think of the new black dial 5170? I find it very beautiful and in terms of looks I think, but that's just me you don't need to agree , that it is a direct competitor to the 5070P, of course I would probably choose the 5070 as it has a blue dial and I am the biggest sucker in the world for blue dialsThe 5170 in white dial was nice but I am not a big fan of white dials, the black dial is very close in looks, again just my opinion, to the 5370, of course one is split seconds the other not, but here are 4 pics, of 5370 and 5170, front and back, ok the back 5170 is not of the black dial, but it gives an idea, of course in the best of worlds they would be at the same price and all would be happy, but considering the price difference would you pay that much more for having a split or would you just get the 5170?If I could afford it, even if I am not a chrono fan I think I would get a 5170 black dial, I do find it very beautiful, and the movement like always for Patek manual
Keep PAM 557 or swap it for PAM 346
Thinking that all I have is an itch ; and all I need to do is to let it take its course and do nothing. Or maybe I am up to something. Doesn't matter , is fun to hear out opinions and things that never crossed my mind. It matters to me things like resale , coolness , scarcity , etc Also I also had the idea that Luminor with the crown guard is the staple of Panerai ; but it also true that the original Panerai is the Radiomir This Radiomir brings a power reserve in the back, date and seconds that my 557 doesn't . But the 47 case and the Vintage allure of the 557 has its magic as well. Kind of a catch 22 Shot !
