Antoine Martin Slow Runner Watch Has Largest Escapement
For 2013, Martin Braun's watch brand Antoine Martin will release their third major timepiece collection with the Slow Runner. Martin explained the concept of the Slow Runner to me last year by telling me that he was producing a simple watch with a huge slowly moving balance wheel. He sure wasn't kidding. If you've ever seen the balance wheel of old clocks operating, you know that there is a sort of hypnotic quality to seeing them move back and forth at a one hertz speed. Martin has successfully produced that experience for a wrist watch.Antoine Martin likes to point out that the Slow Runner is a "true" one hertz operating movement. What does that mean? Another popular watch that is of a similar vein is the Dutch Gronefeld One Hertz watch. That watch indeed had a second hand moving at one hertz, but the escapement was faster. Curious and would very much like to hear from our resident experts (if I may impose):1. Do you guess that the 5131R will be as limited as the J and G or will Patek produce more of these and be easier to get? I looked at an older thread on this topic, but perhaps more insight now. How impossible is it to get at retail pricing for a mere mortal such as myself?2. I like the 5110P. The hands seem small and time difficult to read; is that true? How does it compare in size to a 36mm Rolex Day Date (any pictures)?

Well I'm very happy to say I have the first new (to me) Patek of 2015 inbound! The only bad part is I will be parting with my beloved 5970G and probably my 5960/1A...but it will be worth it! Any guesses?Hope everyone's having a great weekend
