Introducing the Oris ProPilot Altimeter
Who on earth needs' a watch with an altimeter? Wants' is a different matter. So there you are at 15,000ft, about to tip your Mk XVI Spit into a dive. ?You thumb the Merlin up to full boost then, casually – because you're that sort of chap – you glance down to check your aircraft altimeter against your watch's. Happens all the time, surely?Oris have made a watch with a mechanical altimeter. ?Why? ?What on earth is the point? ?You know what – the why' doesn't matter. ?After all, your local swimming bath is less than 3 metres deep, but you still wear a Sub. You probably don't own a Formula 1 car but you wear a Tag Heuer F1. ?Chances are you're not a pilot – but it doesn't matter either because this watch is an Industry First.Let's look at the background…The Oris Aviation Collection. ?Watches and aviation. ?It's really a bit of a conceit. ?Modern (and even older planes) have all the built-in gadgetry you need to fly. ?You need a watch when you fly like you n
Omega Planet Ocean 9300 Chronograph POC on a Hirsch Viscount Strap with Hirsch Pusher
After some deliberation on whether to opt for a Genuine Omega strap buckle combo or an aftermarket one, I opted for the Hirsch Viscount Alligator Real Leather with 100m water resistance Strap combined with a Hirsch Pusher Buckle. What an elegant combination that is. For such an expensive aftermarket strap, the buckle was a must i.e. it was necessary to get a deployment one as it saves the ole strap from some stretching taking it off and putting back on the watch (could have been an Omega one at 5 times the price and may consider one in the future). I am truly happy with the result. Your input (positive or negative) shall be appreciated.

SIAP. I debated about posting this on the open thread board but I figured there's enough of a relationship with Omega. Enjoy!.youtube/watch?feature...&v=24mTIE4D9JM
Mind if I "chime" in??
Wanted to share a pic of this 5078P with its gorgeous enamel dial. Though very simply and understated, it's truly a work of art!
Q: Buying a GMT BLNR pre-Basel?
I'm going to buy a BLNR as my next watch. I love GMTs. Rolex makes the best GMTs in my judgment. I have always loved the black and blue bezel. I have the opportunity to buy from a TS at what I consider a fair price. With that as context, is it mistake to buy this week in the context of a potential upgrade to the 3235 movement? What are the puts and takes - and any other considerations?
