Ulysse Nardin Launches Marine Chronograph Manufacture With In-House Movement
Ulysse Nardin’s journey toward more in-house movement production, a stated goal of UN CEO Patrik Hoffman, continued apace at this year’s Baselworld, when the brand released the new Marine Chronograph Manufacture, its first chronograph watch with an in-house movement. The watch’s story begins last year, when Ulysse Nardin purchased the rights to Ebel’s Caliber 137, the chronograph movement that has now been renamed Ulysse Nardin Caliber 150 and manufactured exclusively by UN at its workshop in Le Locle, Switzerland. The Marine Chronograph Manufacture follows up last year’s major introduction of the Marine Chronometer Manufacture, which contained the brand’s very first in-house movement, COSC-certified chronometer Caliber Un-118.Ulysse Nardin has outfitted the original Ebel movement with its own silicon escapement, which beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph; even the balance spring, made of silicon, is made in-house. The renamed, refurbished UN-150 moveme
Bulgari Octo Bi-Retro Steel Ceramic Watch
I discussed a little while ago about how Bulgari (Bvlgari) incorporated Gerald Genta, and Daniel Roth (brands it already owned) into the Bulgari brand. You can read all about that and see a video interview with Bulgari talking about it here. The first product of this digestive affair is this watch. Basically a re-branded Gerald Genta Octo Bi-Retro, that has a bit more Bulgari-ness to it. The overall shape and dimensions of the watch are the same, but styling has been "face-lifted" and injected with some of the Bulgari DNA. It feels like the outcome of a? mad scientist combing the DNA of multiple animals, err, I mean watch brands. Why must these men play god!? This horological Chimera is without true soul. Soon we will have an army of "Bvulgenta" and "Daniel Gari" watches all over the place.Clearly the Gerald Genta style fits? better with Bulgari, than does Daniel Roth. I am curious to see what the later mixture with Bulgari will result in. Maybe I will find out shortly when I am at Bas
Ap Royal Oak 15400ST or AP Offshore Diver 15710?
I'm in the market for my first AP and have narrowed it down to the AP Diver 15710 or the Royal Oak 15400ST black dial. Having a hard time deciding!!!!Any feedback or advice? I currently own the Rolex BLNR, Hulk, and SD43 so what do you guys suggest? Appreciate your help!
5177 White Dial Discount?
I know the 5711 white dial is not as popular as the unobtainable blue dial, would it be normal to get some type of discount on the white dial version?
The DeepSea...Is anyone else surprised...???
Now please don't get me wrong...I LOVE the DeepSea...It's the only Rolex I now own and I wear it all day, everyday with more pleasure then I probably deserve...But it will be 10 years this spring since the model was released and I am shocked that Rolex has let the run go on so long...I mean let's face it, there are a great many people who dislike the 116660...It's too thick, too heavy, too much writing, etc, etc,etc... And I have yet to see a watch that tends to polarize people more...In the end Rolex must be making their monies worth on the watch or they would have pulled it from production years ago...Right...Or does Rolex leave it in their line because of it's technological advancements...I guess we'll never know...
