Breva Genie 02 Air Black Watch
Earlier in 2014 we showed you the newest creation by Breva, their Genie 02 Altimeter watch with a hands-on look. It followed up the Genie 01 watches from 2013 that included a barometer. For Baselworld 2014, Breva is adding an additional version of the Genie 02 with the Genie 02 Air produced in a titanium case that has been coated in black and bears slightly different dial and calibration. The Genie 02 is a rather complicated watch given the fact that it has a mechanical altimeter in it. When Breva originally released the Genie 02 they tried to pen it as a watch for use on high mountains while skiing to check your altitude. I figured it made a bit more sense for them to focus on it being an aviation watch. So that is exactly what they did with the Genie 02 Air.Breva needed to rework a few things on the Genie 02 in order to make it suitable as a flying versus skiing watch. Aside from the hip, dark color scheme, the altitude scales have been adjusted for a wider range. The Genie 02 has a s
BEST FROM: watches-dealer & Friends September 13th
September began with Samsung announcing its new Galaxy Gear smartwatch, we share our thoughts on the Gear as well as those of Om Malik, an experienced tech journalist. We check out a couple of new watches from Ulysse Nardin, MB&F, and Bamford and end off with a look at the top women's watches of this year and a visit to Parmigiani's workshops in Switzerland.1. Parmigiani: Watchmakers Of Yesterday, Today And TomorrowParmigiani is perhaps most famous for its Bugatti watch, but beyond that, the brand actually has a very interesting, though brief, history. In this special feature, our contributor, David Bredan, spent six days with Parmigiani, learning more about their history and learning how they make watches. This is an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at one of the most promising brands right now.Source: watches-dealer (Part 1), watches-dealer (Part 2)?2. Interesting day in Geneva visiting AP and PP...some interesting prices as well
Firstly, I would like to give a quick shout out to JorgeCCW and thank him for his thread Conversion from hoarding all brands to Patek which has influenced me enormously, and without which I probably wouldn't have gone on this little trip.Secondly, for the sake of simplicity I have put all figures into US$ at today's spot rates:$1 = 0.804 Euros$1 = 0.966 CHF (Swiss Francs)************************************************** ***************************Today I spent the day in Geneva, which for me is about a 2 hour drive from home. I have been familiar with the city for years and know my way around....although as far as watches are concerned up until now my interest was exclusively in Rolex. It was never my idea to return home with a new watch....not today anyway.....more a case of deciding what I want next. FYI, I was fairly well dressed and wearing my WG Day-Date.Simply to give myself a warm-up I stopped first at Montres Prestige at the Kempinski Hotel. It is supposedly an Audemars Pig
Seriously....what just happened?
I'm a Panerai guy. Big. Simple. Sport. Beat up leather straps.I just got a 232. A significant watch for me. Wanted for years.So.....why is it that I can't stop thinking about a Nautilus! That case on a strap is just incredible!!!! Why?!?!?!?!?! I should have never went to that store.Ok, if you made it this far maybe you can answer a question for me.Let's say I somehow got the money for a 5711 blue/black. Can it be worn on a strap like this watch?
Waterproof Leather strap for sea diving???
I am looking for a strap for water and day wear, I am going to live in Thailand in a few months so heat, transpiration and swimming will be permanent. I don't like very much the feel of the original Panerai rubber strap on my wrist, nato's are nice but I prefer way more leather straps. There are a few strapmakers that have for sale leather waterproof straps, has anyone already used these straps for this kind of use, for example in places like Florida or others? What are the result, does the strap hold the distance or are they just a little more resistant than a good aftermarket leather strap but no more? Thanks for sharing your experiences about this, I have found a few but the ones from good strapmakers are not cheap, between 180-240 dollars, would hate to spend that kind of money if it only lasts for a few months.
