Blancpain Introduces Saint Valentin Ladies’ Watch
With the 2012 holiday season behind us, Blancpain is already looking ahead to Valentine’s Day, with the debut of its new Saint Valentin 2013 limited-edition watch, a ladies’ model with a mother-of-pearl dial and diamond-bedecked bezel. The Blancpain Saint Valentin 2013 uses the iconic imagery of the heart universal symbol of romantic love and of the watch’s namesake saint as its primary motif. The base of the watch’s dial is white mother-of-pearl, and the hour markers are diamonds. The dial is enhanced with five red-lacquered, mother-of-pearl marquetry hearts, the largest of which surrounds the date window at 3 o’clock. The counterweight of the slender, central seconds hand takes the shape of the Blancpain “JB” (initials of founder Jehan-Jacques Blancpain) logo. The 34-mm stainless steel case features a bezel set with two rows of full cut-diamonds, and the case middle also sports five red hearts, here made of liquid ceramic. To make these
An Intro To Girard-Perregaux's Mechanics Of Style Web Magazine
This is a guest post written by Aaron Sigmond, a watch and luxury journalist who is also the editor and content curator of Mechanics of Style. MoS is a lifestyle magazine produced by Swiss watch maker Girrard-Perregaux to complement the lifestyle of the average Girard-Perregaux watch owner. Currently on Mechanics of Style there is a contest where you can win a Girard-Perregaux Golden Bridge Pen, we suggest you check it out.MOST OF LIFE'S big questions boil down to Who are we, and what are we doing here? Inevitably, any new publication, in any medium, must offer an answer, and that's just what Girard-Perregaux's Mechanics of Style a digital journal for the modern gentleman, covering everything in life that accompanies a fine wristwatch attempts to do.Start with the we. Many years ago long before I could truly appreciate a Girard-Perregaux, or anything that remotely approached its standards of craftsmanship I coined a phrase: Because style never goes out of fashion. Tournaire Expression Paris Watch
Jewelry and watch designer Philippe Tournaire has created some really interesting things. For me, he will be most famous for being the guy who turns architecture into rings. Really. Image a ring with a gold building on it - yup. Tournaire's newest creation combines this concept with a watch, but in a way that is just sort of weird. In fact, as hard as it may have been someone finally make the beautiful city of Paris kinda unattractive. To be fair I do like his basic watch designs. Even they have optional "architecture" around the side of the case. This one however has a thick frame of little carved buildings around the edge. A "revolution" around Paris you might say. Landmark buildings abound, as well as the Eiffel Tower of course. According to BusinessMontres, Tournaire is considering making timepieces like this for other cities. This is starting to remind me of the movie Inception - which I still don't quite understand. That is the other place I recall being able to turn a city around

Talking with the watchmaker at my AD - PREDICTION!
You heard it here first! Without a doubt! It's for sure!!!! That... someone I know thinks something will happen at basel 2018!!!!!! Ahem... speaking with a knowledgeable watchmaker at my AD, also a great guy, he and I were talking and he suggest/think/predicts that the 3186 will be replaced in 2018. He said the movement has been around a while, and with all the new improvements in the 3200 series (like my 3235 DJ41 ) Rolex will update the GMT out of the 3100 in to 32... something. Heck, I'll predict it's the 3274! Anyway, it kind of makes sense, the 3186 has been powering the GMTs and older Explorers for many years... Time for an upgrade?
