Baselworld 2015: The Perrelet Turbine Skeleton
Perrelet’s most recognizable family is the Turbine collection. These watches, featuring an oscillating turbine seen through cut-outs in the dial, have become the company’s signature, and now represent the majority of Perrelet’s watches on the market. Since the design relies on an idea of openwork, letting you see into the dial, it’s always felt just a little bit like a skeletonized watch. But Perrelet offered no skeletonized version of the Turbine C until now. At Baselworld this year, Perrelet introduces the Turbine Skeleton in three different case designs. The Turbine Skeleton has a 44-mm diameter and is 13.3 mm thick. Its case is made of stainless steel with black PVD coating. The dial and accents around the edges of the bezel are in black or in a silver color, which also matches the lugs. The dial tells the hours and minutes with pointed hands covered in Super-LumiNova. The red seconds hand has a cut-out counterweight in the shape of a triangle, echoing the ho
SIHH Preview: Piaget Unveils its First Minute Repeater
Piaget has announced the launch of its first minute repeater timepiece, set to debut at next month’s SIHH watch fair in Geneva. In the brand’s tradition of historically thin watches and mechanical movements, the new watch sets another record for slenderness in its category: only 4.8 mm thick for the caliber and only 9.4 mm for the case. The Emperador Coussin Automatic Minute Repeater was crafted entirely in-house, with the movement, Caliber 1290P,?developed, produced, decorated and assembled at the Piaget manufacture La C?te-aux-Fes and the case made at the brand’s facility in Plan-les-Ouates. This minute repeater movement represents the fourth major complication developed by Piaget, which over the past 14 years has created 35 in-house movements, including 11 comprising major complications. Some of these include notable calibers like the 600P (the world's thinnest hand-wound shaped tourbillon), 880P (ultra-thin automatic chronograph), 855P (ultra-thin automatic perpet
Graham Chronofighter Fortress features innovative design
I have owned a Chronofighter for some time, and I must confess that the novelty has worn a little, but I always like to wear the watch. The cases are very well designed and the day before in General is made of quality. Prices are a little high but now they have what appears to be an internal caliber G1742 movement, prices are more justified.
Anyone have a wrist shot of the Transocean Chronograph?
Haven't seen any on the forum would love to see some wrist shots especially with the steel bracelet.
5167 winding question
I was setting the date and when I went to wind the watch to power the reserve, I noticed that there were several moments when there was no resistance at all. The crown would just spin without the usual grinding sound that indicates it is winding. It would just turn, silently, without any resistance. I have a few months on the warranty... should I take it is or is this normal? Thanks, gents, for any insight.
