Christophe Claret Kantharos Watch Exclusive Debut
Lucky for you Christophe Claret watch lovers that Mr. Claret's newest piece is also probably his most affordable yet. No, it isn't going to come cheap at about $100,000 bucks. But that is better than $200,000 right? It does however come with a cool name; "Kantharos." A strong title - the term is actually quite simple. A kantharos is the term used to describe a form of ancient Greek pottery. More specifically, a drinking vessel. So the watch is like a tall glass of cool water? Not exactlyI think Claret's motive was to comment on how the high-contrast dial is similar to the high-contrast colors on these antique pots. The Kantharos uses the same case and aesthetics of the Christophe Claret Blackjack 21, Baccarat, and Soprano watches. It looks like the brand will settle on this case design and dial style for a while to come. While we have just one picture at launch, the Kantharos will be available in five versions. Pictured is the black titanium model, but other versions will includes cases
Graham Chronofighter Oversize Titanium SAS Watch Is Big, Contradictory, Camouflaged
People go crazy over Graham watches. Especially the Chronofighter series. The trendy English watch maker has some very appealing designs, and I can personally attest to the fact that the build quality of these watches is very good. The Chronofighter series of watch is typified by a unique chronograph pusher system, and apparently is easier to use. It is easier to put, being trigger like, which helps as they are on the left side. The crown has a pusher built in to it, which is depressed by the trigger. The top pusher is the reset button for the chronograph, but you knew that because it says so on the watch. This particular model is the "Chronofighter Oversize Titanium SAS." You can ignore the oversize part. I hate use of the term. See my article on "oversized" here. The watch is 47mm wide. Oversized would imply it was 47 inches wide. That actually would be oversized. The fact that it has "titanium" in the name, would imply that it is titanium, which it is. A trait that makes this watch o
SMP vs. Non Ceramic Sub
Went out for dinner with some friends last night and one of them was wearing a SS sub circa 1995, I was wearing my coaxial SMP Bond. We switched watches for a few minutes and he admitted that my SMP felt much more substantial then his sub. He was very impressed with the dial, bracelet and caseback of my SMP.I know it is not fair to compare a new SMP with an older sub but with a new sub costing twice as much as a SMP, the Bond is a bargain!
Should never have tried one on.....
.... but Melbourne is way too tempting ....
