Bulova Accutron Watch Ad Pitch Opens MAD MEN Season 7
Season 7 (the final season) of the television show MAD MEN debuted tonight with the reading of a pitch for the Accutron wrist watch. It was only a matter of time before the subject of watch advertising came up in the series and there is perhaps no better example than the original Bulova Accutron. As the original electronic tuning fork watch, it offered a unique upgrade over mechanical watches but existed in a pre-quartz movement age. The pitch, as described in a monologue in the opening scene of season 7 episode 1 titled "Time Zones," is perhaps one of the best watch advertisements of all time.It was in the year 1960 that Bulova unveiled the Accutron range of watches to the public. Part of me has a love/hate relationship with Audemars Piguet. I really enjoy many of their watches, although I don't think they are perfect. Some of their designs are so classic and still hip, and I find myself really liking some of the pieces. Then I think to myself how overpriced some of the stuff is, and how a lot of what the company is - epitomizes the snobby luxury watch culture that I personally reject. Anyhow, this is the Forged Carbon version of the Royal Oak Offshore watch. A neat bumble bee of a timepiece with a lot of stuff going on. The new one unveiled at the ATL GTG today
I was not disappointed:These are phone shots from the ATL GTG. The top one still has the sticker on the crystal.I'll try to post some better photos and a review in a day or so. Bill will have a photo or two taken at this GTG which was well attended BTW. Lots of great guys, great watches, good food and fellowship. I'm already looking forward to the next one in October.

Patek Papers Question
HeyNew to forum so thanks for help. Looking at buying a PP 3940 from reputable dealer of used Patek watches. The papers on this watch have the name of the prior owner completely blacked out with a black marker. I have never scene this before. Lots of threads with info on no papers, or papers with no names, but I couldn't find any answers to this question: Is it ok that the papers have the name of the prior owner blacked out? Does this affect value? Is this normal on the Patek resale market for privacy reasons or something else?Appreciate any info that can help.Thanks!David
