Survey Of The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Sport Watch History
The Hour Lounge is a serious enthusiast oriented forum dedicated almost wholly to Vacheron Constantin watches. If you ever have a questions about? Vacheron Constantin watches, The Hour Lounge is the place to go. I've enjoying talking with their members on occasion who I can easily say know far more about Vacheron Constantin watches that I do. The forum moderator Alex Ghotbi, has recently posted an extensive photo essay on the history of the Vacheron Constantin sport watch - basically the Overseas. What is now the range of Overseas watch models started as a unique angular cased watch in the 1930s.? You'll noticed the finely milled case looks incredibly modern, and you'll understand where the Overseas watch got its iconic looks. Over the 20th century the look of Vacheron Constantin watches slowly evolved, but retained mostly the same character.Alex dispels the myth that the famous ref. 222 Overseas model from the 1970s was designed by Gerald Genta. It was actually created by Jorg Hysek.

Head v. Heart
Hey everyone... the recent uptick of posts on the 5164 and 5712 (not to mention the incomings) had me zeroed in on one of the two as my next timepiece. I thought the 5164 would be a great travel companion (live in Tokyo, office in SoCal) and a good stable-mate to my 5146g. I have tried on the 5164 multiple times but never seen a 5712 in the metal. There was just something about the 5712 that I loved. Imagine my surprise when I happened on the AD in SLC last week and they had both available. My head told me that the 5164 should be the next acquisition ... Much more utilitarian with my line of work. But my heart fell for the 5712 - I was always intrigued with the design, but seeing it in the metal was even better. Couldn't afford both - dratt ! - so slept on it a night and decided ... to go ... with my ... HeartNot an ounce of regret - love, love, love the 5712!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
5980 and 15400 side by side
Looking for some side by side comparison pictures - Is there anyone lucky enough to own there two stunning watches that may care to share some comparisons?
Where do you wear your Rolex?
So I was talking to a watch buddy of mine. I own an Speedy and a Mark 18 that I wear almost anywhere with no issue. My Rolex Milgauss however, I do hesitant wearing it out to work meetings or to certain functions. Now don't get me wrong, I love wearing it. I just feel a bit self conscious in certain situations. Such as wearing it to visit my customers. Even though I'm driving a Honda Accord and I know many who drive 5 series or Lexus's that cost way more than my watch. Also they do not hold their value like my watches either.I'm not sure if I'm the only one who feels this way? Just wanted to hear others thoughts on the subject.
