10 Unique Watches Up for Auction at Only Watch 2015
As watch-industry followers are surely aware by now, this fall will mark the sixth edition of Only Watch, a charity auction of unique timepieces whose proceeds benefit the Monaco Association against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. We’ve already shown you Tudor’s contribution to the biennial event; here are 10 more from 10 other participating watch brands.Blancpain has created a new version of its Traditional Chinese Calendar, with a 45-mm-diameter rose-gold case and a black grand feu enamel dial. The watch, which contains a Blancpain manufacture movement, combines aspects of both the Gregorian calendar and Chinese calendar; the latter includes leap months, signs of the Zodiac, symbols for the five elements and 10 celestial stems, and the 12 Zodiac animals that represent a 60-year cycle that is central to Chinese culture (for more detail on this ultra-complicated calendar watch, click here). Blancpain’s patented under-lug correctors are used to adjust all the indications.
Speedmaster - leather strap or SS bracelet?
I just came out of a meeting with someone who was wearing their Speedmaster Pro on its stainless steel bracelet. It looked fantastic - very sexy. I also remember watching Apollo 13 with Tom Hanks (a great Speedmaster porn movie) and admiring all the Speedmasters on their metal bracelets. However, I have always preferred a leather strap on the Speedmaster. I am not a fan of the standard leather deployant model fitted by Omega on the Speedmaster (too bulky for my 6.5 wrist). My solution was to buy my Speedie Pro with the metal bracelet and then fit a traditional leather buckle black Omega strap in the Omega Boutique before I walked out with my new watch. It looks great and is a bit more vintage as well. Doing it this way was a little more expensive but I have the option of the stainless steel bracelet if I want it. Having seen the metal bracelet version today I'm tempted to go back to it.What do people here prefer - leather or metal ?
Opinions on this speedmaster
Hi everyone, I'm looking at this one to replace a previous speedy I traded. Just wanted to get some input on the model/condition and whether it's fairly priced. Also, should I have any concerns if I move forward with the deal and it's being shipped from Canada? forums.watchuseek/f29/fs-...a-3397410.htmlThanks,
Can't decide on my first PM piece.
I know this comes down to being my choice but would like to hear some opinions. I am aiming to buy my first gold watch in 2018. I have basically ruled out YG. Just too much for me right now. I'm 31 and live in ND and can foresee A LOT of unwanted comments. So WG it is, which doesn't leave a whole lot of options. I'm leaning towards the Blue Sub. Already have a LN and LVc should be here soon. So would it be dumb to add another sub? The GMT is really nice but after seeing it in person I'm not in love with the bezel, and I already own the BLNR so I'd be adding another GMT to the collection. My holy grail is the DD with black dial and baguette markers, but once again I'm 31, live in ND, and my job is really laid back, mostly work from home, and only dress up a handful of times every year. So taking into consideration those thoughts and options, what would you chose? Should I wait to see if anything new in WG is released at Basel? Should I look at another brand? Or should I ju
Almost New SS Submariner
I am looking for a first Rolex for my son (who is hopefully graduating college) and narrowed it down either a SS Sub or a GMT. My AD is telling me that he has a No-Date Submariner that was originally sold in March of 2017 but never picked up from the store. The papers have been executed however. He is asking $6500.What does this fine community think?
