MB&F Horological Machine No. 3 Sidewinder and Starcruiser Watch Further Luxurification Of Science Fiction
Where have I seen this look before? MB&F founder Max Busser doesn't hide the fact that he is inspired by science fiction and related culture in the creation of his timepiece novelties. The new MB&F No. 3 reminds me of a place between Star Wars' C3PO, "Batteries Not Included's" Wheem babybot, and Futurama's Bender. Compare the images, and I think you'll agree. Besides those references, there are plenty of other tech culture influences that went into the design of the No. 3 Sidewinder and Starcruiser. The difference between the two watches is orientation. Not THAT kind of orientation (anyone can wear them), but literally the way they are positioned. The Starcruiser is in a more vertical position with the crown pointed up, while the Sidewinder is turned on its side, with the dials stacked on each other and the crown pointed in toward your arm (assuming you are wearing the watch on your left wrist). Grail Challenge: 5164 or 5980 As Daily?
The 5980 Nautilus chrono has long been my grail. Not getting it soon. Which gives me (too much) time to (over) think...Would I be better off with the chrono as a daily wearer, or the 5164 Aquanaut dual time zone?I don't travel much, but then again I have no urgent need for timing things either. So as far as functionality goes, they're both evenly interesting and useful.Hard to find used 5164, but used 5980's are plentiful. A new 5164 is nearly as much as a used 5980. Which way would you go? Why?Bonus question: will the steel bracelet from an Aquanaut 5167 fit a 5164?Thanks for indulging me.
after market ceramic bezel

Incoming (Lucky and Unexpected)!!!!
A period of flipping a couple of watches finally comes to an end!!! After making calls to several AD's within about a 300 mile radius, my last call was to a somewhat local AD (60 miles away) and yes...... they had a SD43 in the case that was unspoken for!!! Amazing watch that checks all of the boxes. I am very lucky to get my hands on this one because all other AD's I called had 6-12 month waiting lists!!!
