F.P.Journe Homage Dinner for George Daniels
If there was was one dinner watchmakers and enthusiasts hoped to attend in 2010, it was the one organized to honor George Daniels on June 24 at the Lanesborough Hotel in London. The dinner was hosted by F.P. Journe to celebrate the achievements, innovation and expertise George Daniels has contributed to the world or horology. This exclusive dinner was organized by F.P.Journe's long time London partners, John and William Asprey of William & Son, Journe’s UK agent. At the dinner Fran?ois-Paul Journe honored his long-time friend and mentor George Daniels, one of the foremost watchmakers of the 20th century, who gave Journe the creative inspiration that has significantly stirred his horological career. In a speech at the dinner, Journe declared: Without George Daniels, I would most certainly never have stared to make my first watch. George is definitely the foremost watchmaker of the 20th Century. It was in 1969, when the mechanical watch industry was dethroned by the arrival of

Omega Speedmaster Question
I sent my watch out to the Omega repair facility in Secaucus,NJ. I was quoted a price of $ 2000 for a complete resoration. The band was $700 plus by itself. Is anyone aware of anyone who has the capacity to repair and restore other than a Omega facility?? Or should I just buy a new one??They stated they would be replacing the following: 1 The luminous material on the hands is flaking 2 The hands are damaged 3 Movement shows sins of water damage 4 One or more of the pushers are damaged and detached 5 One or more of the perminate links in the bracelet are missing. and must be replaced 6 Clasp is damaged 7 Movement is rusted
Auction Prices - 5575
Still trying to get to the bottom of this. So today we have a 5575 going for $ 89 000. That means that the Seller actually received net $ 57000 So why dont Sellers just be more realistic on Chrono and ask this figure instead of the $ 100 + that i see everywhere. Just struggling to understand the disconnect in the market.
Spanish VAT question re the Submariner Date (116610 Ln)
Hi guys - A while back I was lucky enough to reserve a Date Sub for July when i visit my family in Barcelona (I'm an Australian) at one of the ADs.I gave them my passport details a while back and now they have confirmed that they have acquired one in time for my trip but I need to give them a 2,000 euro deposit. They say that the retail price of 7,850 euros is non-negotiable and that they could assist in organising a 15.7% discount resulting in a price of 6,618 euros (very reasonable imo). Does anybody have any experience in negotiating further at one of these spanish ADs or should I be grateful that this has been set up and take the good price as it is.Also is there anything I need to do re bringing the watch back to Aus around GST etc? Thanks in advance - I am fairly new to international purchases and always bought in Australia but after reading some of the forums here I thought I would give it a crack overseas too.Appreciate it!
