Patek Philippe Ref. 5960P Chrono Calendar: Nice And Classy If You Can Afford It
Patek Philippe is a star among watch makers. Almost like a higher class Rolex, Patek stays high among the uber-elite, and sneers down upon the lower classes of watches and people. This is where you get the sales people who treat you like your father cleaned their father's bathrooms. Regardless of their attitude, Patek Philippe is an innovator in the watch world, and they helped further the movement to bring back the mechanical watch when quartz watches looked to be taking over in the 1980s. Today Patek Philippe is among those watch makers who have a reputation for ultra-high quality watches whose value can actually increase overtime.Their latest foray is the Reference 5960P, the "P" standing for platinum. This is an innovative piece because it the first of it's type for Patek as an in-house monochronograh ("monocounter" chronograph). Historical Perspectives: Revisiting The History Of The Omega Speedmaster With The Astronauts Who Wor
The official status of Omega’s Speedmaster Professional as that of “Moonwatch” is widely known and celebrated amongst enthusiasts and certainly by Omega themselves. Unlike many brand partnerships, the relationship between Omega and NASA has yielded real, tangible benefits, with the Speedmaster itself making appearances in each of the manned missions to the Moon, and even contributing to one of the greatest dramas of the 20th century, helping the astronauts of Apollo 13 return safely to Earth after an oxygen tank explosion two days into the mission. We heard the first hand account of Lovell’s heroism, and the Speedmaster’s pivotal role in Apollo 13’s return to Earth. 1 OF 26 “Houston, we have a problem.&rd

Dali Lama (Patek not Rolex) :(
it had been my understanding that his favorite watch (seen him on interviews wearing it) was a Rolex. Turns out its a Patek (high complications) given by a former US President during WWII. Interesting read:.hodinkee/blog/2010/7/...-patek-ph.htmlAnd no, I did not confuse a Rolex w a Patek, he does wear a Rolex at times. But who could blame him, right?
Trifecta!
