Floyd Mayweather Wears Hublot Logo During Pacquiao Fight
Tomorrow on May 2, 2015, world boxing champions Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will fight in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand - and you know the luxury industry will be there too. Hublot's tenacity in working with a range of sports that the more conservative Swiss watch industry has traditionally shunned continues to pay off, and today, Hublot gifted a unique watch to Floyd Mayweather and also announced that the champ will be wearing the Hublot logo on his trunks during the fight - apparently, the first time Mayweather has ever worn a company image or name in such a way.None of this is terribly surprising, as Mr. Mayweather is a known lover of luxury watches - especially those of the blingy persuasion. Like some other celebrities who have made it big after coming from humble beginnings, Mayweather enjoys showing off his collection of luxuries and speaking about his timepieces that together form a massive assortment of watches worth well into the many millions of dollars. movies.yahoo/blogs/movie-...222943812.html I have to admit i never knew James Bond wore a Breitling in any of the movies.
What are you wearing to start out the weekend?
It's a Snoopy kind of day! Great weekend to all here!
Recent trip to an AD
Stopped by Leeds and Sons while on vacation today in Palm Desert. Very nice people and great selection. Upon walking through the doors I noticed a nice lady purchasing a PP (couldn't tell what it was but most likely a gift) and she looked at me (noticed my 5167A) and said, He's a Patek Philippe guy too. That made me and the sales associate chuckle. The Patek section was small but had a few I wanted to try on. Just thought I'd share. The YG Calatrava was my fave followed by the RG 5712
Breguet, Patek, and the Daytona
Since the $50K thread got locked here is a fact to remember about Breguet. The company was started by Louis Abraham Breguet in 1775 in Paris, which makes it the oldest watch company, period. The company is owned by the Swatch Group but they are essentially stand alone from the perspective of movements, etc. Breguet has invented more watch technology that just about any other watch company. Breguet overcoil anyone? It is still disingenuous to say the Daytona has no history though. It has a great history - it's just measured in decades not centuries like Breguet. And there's no reason to diss Patek Philippe unless you're jealous and can't afford one. They're great watches and the Aquanaut and Nautilus are more than robust enough to withstand diving and a game or two of golf.Rolex's are great pieces - but you have to be open-minded about where they sit in the watch universe and enjoy them for what they are, and not criticize other brands for not being Rolex.
