5131P coming in a few days??
Well I was dinner last night with some serious collectors after the Sothebys preview and I have it on good authority the 5131P is on the way with N Pole map(as I suggested to Geneva last year) and also it will come with a bracelet so it will be heavy and most likely retail around 140-150K??? For those who love snow so much this could be the one for them also.. How accurate this info and the other stuff I heard is anyone's guess but if true some interesting things on the way in Basel and later in the year.. Time will tell so dont shoot the messenger. Here is a shot of all our pieces together..
Fascinating article
The fascinating part of it is not the comparison between the 3 chronographs, IMO, but the brief history about the high end brands and their view on the way to make watches, that you could find the same base caliber in a 1500$ Speedster as in a high end Patek, of course the movement of the two after being redesigned and decorated had nothing in common. So maybe Patek doesn't have the same finishing it once had, personally I have no idea, as I never looked at a 20 year old Patek movement under times 4 magnification, and at a modern movement of the same complications and price. Many want in-house movements over outsourced, but the models going for the highest prices at auction, whether Patek or Panerai, were outsourced...Anyways hope you find the article interesting...https://.hodinkee/articles/pa...harmony-review
Thinking of getting back into Panerai.....opinions please?
Had a few in the past and thinking about a return to Panerai. Not a big fan of the date on Panerai models but not a deal breaker either. Ideally a 42mm model will fit me best but I can handle 44mm......my wrist size is 6.75. These are the models I have been looking at....392, 512, 560, 590.....thoughts/likes/dislikes on those? Any other models that I should be looking at from the Panaristi crowd here? Thanks in advance for your consideration and suggestions.Steve
Watch not working after winding please advise
Usually I wind my pam 183 till I get to the catch point so I know it's fully wound. This morning it was winding for what seemed abit too long, suddenly there was a small pop and the watch stopped running. I wonder if I overwound it if that's even possible. Usually there is a stop/catch point. It felt like it almost popped over the catch point
