Vacheron Constantin Mtiers dArt Savoirs Enlumins Watches With 'Illuminated' Dials
The Vacheron Constantin Mtiers d'Art Savoirs Enlumins Watches are raising the in-house bar for one of horology's most respected players. In the past, the Vacheron Constantin?Mtiers d'Art watches have impressed with their stunning visuals and their stubborn insistence on maintaining the craft skills of yore. Grand Feu enamel, precious gems, hand-engraving, and guilloche patterns?have illuminated dials that often stick in your mind's eye. When it comes to?illumination, however, it is the latest range from Vacheron Constantin that takes things to a new level. The?Vacheron Constantin Mtiers d'Art Savoirs Enlumins watches with "illuminated" dials take their design cues from the Aberdeen Beastiary C a 12th century text that contains a wide range of human knowledge and beliefs from the period.Effectively a device to represent an entire paragraph, an illumination in this sense is an image placed at the beginning of a body of text. These are most often seen in historical documents and were
Incoming - end of an odyssey
For some time, I have had an interest in this watch, but had successfully convinced myself that I could live without it. Nonetheless, on a lark I reached out to a seller and , after some back and forth (and helpful advice from TRF members), the seller and I reached a provisional deal. Unfortunately, that deal didn't end up working out...but by that point reason had gone out the window - I needed to have this watch! what followed was a lot of time hammering around on various forums. I was fortunate to connect with another great seller and we worked together to address the challenges of sending a watch internationally between two private individuals. I'll post a separate thanks in the who's who section - but thank you here as well! The piece arrived last night---------International shipping demands patience The unboxing (rest assured it was sent double boxed...just sparing readers photos of every step of the process)----------The 15707CE is a very cool watch. I very much understand why it

A Week on The Wrist ... (Incoming PP 5146G-001)
I've had this watch for over a week now but I eventually wanted to do a formal 'incoming' thread.Up until now I've only purchased Omegas but in early 2014 I started to look at other brands including NOMOS and Rolex. The thought of purchasing a Patek Philippe in my early thirties never even entered my mind as a possibility. It wasn't until I was about to pull the trigger on a Rolex GMTII as my fourth watch that I started to question if I really wanted it or if I would rather bank it towards a PP. I'm not a fan of having a large watch collection so forsaking all other 'fun' but most likely temporary watches for a quality watch from PP seemed like an easy decision to make (thanks Jorge). For my first PP I narrowed down the models to 5146G or 5396G (interestingly enough, a few other members were also deciding between these or similar models so it was fun gleaning from their threads). I was initially NOT a fan of the 5146G month/day counters and power reserve indicator and so decided on the 5
Would you buy a Rolex from Banana Republic?
Thought this was interesting. BR is a clothing store in case you're not familiar. I'm not posting a direct link but here's a screenshot. This morning they had a 5 digit Sub (I think) listed for $7950 or so; it's since been removed. The dial that was pictured did not include the Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified text... but the bracelet looked more modern. Seemed fishy. If you Google Banana Republic Rolex you'll find other listings and possibly a cached result for the Submariner. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
