Historical Perspectives: Bringing Method To Madness: PBS Explores The Way Timekeeping Impacted Moder
Think about this for a moment: before the 1880's, there were hundreds of time zones within the United States, with towns all across the country adhering to their own standard of "local time." This confusing system was a relic of an America before efficient transportation networks, when there wasn't much need for a centrally regulated, uniform system. The advancement of the railroad system in the late 1800's necessitated a change to a more standard system, and this short excerpt from the upcoming PBS series "How We Got to Now" demonstrates just how confusing things were before then C and how essential timekeeping is to keep modern society up and running.

Panerai 233 or Datejust 2
I will post this on the Rolex Forum as well. Considering another watch and on my wish list (apart from the pm models) are pan 233 or the Datejust Ii fluted black dial white stick markers. My current collection which i will not be getting rid of any consists of a Rolex DSSD, Rolex gmt master 2c Ln, and a Rolex Sub 16610I am sure i will eventually get both in the collection at some point but which would you go for first? I am guessing as this is the Panerai forum most will say the 233.
PAM 512 vs PAM 572?
Hey Everyone,Had my eye on both the 512 and the 572 for a bit, and got to try on the 572 today.I hate to say it, but it seemed just a tad too big for me. (Wrists are about 6). I like the 512, and I'm ok with the size, but I'm not sure if I'm too into a manual vs an automatic. Both are beautiful if you ask me. If I went with the 512, I'd love it whenever I looked at it, but not sure how I feel about winding it always. If I went with the 572, well, it's also beautiful, but I'll probably be bothered some by it's size, but comforted by it's automatic movement.Wondering if any of you own either of those, or both, or if anyone was in the same predicament and can offer any suggestions or advice?Cheers in advance!
