The Montblanc Metamorphosis II Transforms Before Your Eyes (With Video)
At Hong Kong's Watches and Wonders Fair this year, Montblanc introduced the Metamorphosis II, a watch that takes its name quite literally. With the slide of a lever, it transforms: subdials retract to reveal a wholly different display and set of functions. Read on to see how it works. The Metamorphosis II further develops a concept from the Montblanc TimeWriter I: Metamorphosis, which Montblanc introduced in 2010. Now in a fully rounded rose-gold case with a 52-mm diameter, the Metamorphosis II provides a more classically elegant version of the transforming watch.?At first blush, the Metamorphosis II employs design cues drawn from other Montblanc dress watches. The dial has a regulator-like design: a seconds hand is mounted at the center, along with a retrograde minutes hand that arcs just slightly more than 180 degrees. At the top is a recessed hours subdial with Roman numerals. The subdial at 6 o'clock shows the date, with the hand beneath a sapphire bridge. The main part of the dial
SalonQP 2011 Watch Show In London
While I won't be attending there this year (I did go last year), I do invite you to attend the 2011 annual SalonQP watch show event in London. The focus is on English watch makers, but that is just part of the show. For the third iteration of the event, the planners have moved it to the Saatchi Gallery in London and it will be held from November 10-12, 2011. Do check it out if you are in the area.
Easy Does It With The Mido Jubilee Chronometer Watch
Sometimes you want something excessive and sporty; or perhaps something stunning and formal. Other times however you really want just something simple, elegant, and useful; but that doesnt look like a drugstore Timex (shudder). For those times there is the new Mido Jubilee. A nicely designed watch without a hint of pretention, that will never let you down.Mido has a ton of history, and is now part of the Swatch Group. The brand is more popular in Asia, but can be found in the states as well. One of the brands most popular watches is the Mido Commander series, which has an incredibly 1950's look that is somewhere between classy and avant-garde.Other than the somewhat confusing name "Jubilee," this watch is nicely done. The large open face is done in a cream color with an IWC-like font for the Arabic numerals. The thin bezel adds to the elegance and appearance of size, while the star of the dial is really the crisp dagger hands. The case itself is 42mm wide with 5 bars water resistance.T

Which watch stole your Rolex's thunder?
Is there a watch that you purchased (a non rolex), that ended up sharing equal wrist time if not more, than your rolex(es)?I couldn't get past my love for Rolex, and didn't see myself wanting to wear a watch as much as I did my Rolexes, until I came across this babyExtremely light, versatile, water resistant, and under the radar IMO. She will definitely make my Rolexes jealous. Not my wrist shot; just one of my favs.Any similar stories for you?
