Angular Momentum Time Gallery Custom Watch Cases
A lesser known fact about Angular Momentum is that most of their watch creations are custom made works. They have recently upped the value proposition for their custom watch clients with an admittedly very attractive watch package. Instead of just customizing the dials and straps, not clients of Angular Momentum have a totally new case to play with. The new case is called the Time Gallery. The idea is that you can present time in a customizable artistic manner.Angular Momentum is well known for their beautiful eglomise crystal reverse paintings, often known as "Verre Eglomise." There are also known for beautiful lacquering and high relief design capabilities. With the Time Gallery watch case, the front and rear of the watch has a sapphire crystal, each artistically created. The lug structure is different as well. Using the single lug approach gives the watch totally different look, especially as the crown is decentralized a unique approach that Angular Momentum no doubt takes pride
Hands-On: The Cl De Cartier In Rose Gold And Steel
Last January at the 2015 edition of the SIHH, Cartier launched a major new family of wristwatches called the Clé De Cartier – named for the key-like, oblong winding and setting crown set into the flank of the case. We went hands on with the original launch models and we were very impressed by not only the visual, but also the tactile aspects of the design – the watch felt great in the hand and on the wrist, and the crown was just different enough to give a tingle of pleasure, but not so unusual as to become an obstacle to convenience. The Clé De Cartier family was also the launch platform for a new movement: the Cartier caliber 1847, which is the newest in-house general purpose Cartier movement, as well as its least expensive. The finish is not as elaborate as on, say, the 1904 MC (found in the Calibre de Cartier) but it comes in at a lower price as well, which puts the Clé De Cartier in a generally more affordable price bracket – the model we&rsq
A Week On The Wrist: The Zenith El Primero Reference A3817
If you have been following HODINKEE, you might agree with us that Zenith is a manufacturer that produces some of the more value-for-money watches these days. There are few totally in-house chronograph movements that can be had for just around $10,000, and which come in such a variety of dial and case designs ranging from sporty, to totally classic, to something in-between. Most modern watch collectors would probably also recognize the distinctive tri-color dial, especially with the recent lineup of watches such as the Zenith El Primero 36,000 VPH or El Primero Original 1969. And as most of you might know, the tri-colored dial originates from the Zenith El Primero ref A386, a watch produced in 1969 with the (arguably) first high-beat automatic chronograph. 1 OF 15 But did you know that the reference A386 was not the only watch in the El-Primero family with the tri-color dial? There was one other, less well known cousin to the ref A386, which has a more interestingly design
Omega Mark 2
Hi gang. I have a 1970 Omega Mark 2 that I bought in Vietnam, thought about sending it to Switzterland for restoral. It's still very nice and non faded dial, hour markers still lume briefly to this day. Should I send it for a total makeover or is it worth more all original?? Always thought they should be kept original but would really like to see this as I bought it way back when, advise welcome..
