In-Depth: Le Garde Temps C Naissance D'Une Montre, Greubel Forsey's Mission To Protect Traditional Watchmaking
What would happen if traditional watchmaking techniques died out? For Stephen Forsey and Robert Greubel, this thought was anathema. Their namesake company, Gruebel Forsey, relies on these very techniques to produce timepieces that have become lore among modern collectors. If these techniques die out, then their future, and the future of other high-end independents dies out too. So, to prolong these traditions, they joined forces with Philippe Dufour to create an incubator program for fully hand-crafted watchmaking called Naissance d’une Montre. One watchmaker was selected to be the recipient of what is arguably the finest collective of horological knowledge in existence, endowing him with the skills needed to create a watch, by hand, completely from scratch. 2 OF 6 Stephen Forsey, one half of the duo behind Greubel Forsey, describes the importance of safeguarding traditional watchmaking skills: Earlier this year, I had the chance to speak with Stephen Forsey a
Well, 44Ti just stopped winding
Not sure what's going on; but the 44ti now wouldn't wind. It's dead unless i rotate the rotor manually. I noticed things went south when i kept the chronograph running for a few hours. It lost power immediately and then stopped.44CE with stains, and now 44Ti that doesn't wind. Maybe the girl is right after all.
First AP forum post. Looking for advice on Canadian AD
Hey everyone. First post in this forum. I am considering the new AP royal oak that was released this year with the panda dial new from AD. Any suggestions for an AD in Canada? Any advice on if a discount is possible to negotiate? I don't think i would be interested at full pop...I am considering this or a Patek 5167 to be specific. Here is a picture of the new steel royal oaks.
A shout out to Fraser Hart - UK AD
Wanted to say a big thank you to Fraser Hart (large U.K. Chain and AD). Having recently enquired about a CK2998 they told me that they had very limited availability and whilst they would give me one it was important I placed a 2000 deposit right there and then to secure. In running around and moving money I duly did so and was advised delivery would be imminent.I've received the call today that they can't get me the watch after all but in consideration that I still want it they are prepared to give me the deposit back if I can come talk with their Manager. The fact they have wasted my time, sat on my money for 2 weeks, caused undue cost and inconvenience of which part has seen me buy a 1125 bracelet in advance seems somewhat lost on them and I just wanted to say thank you for their helpThat's one AD that won't be getting any business from me in future
