Reference Points: Understanding The Omega Speedmaster (VIDEO)
Welcome to the third installment of Reference Points, our series that takes an exhaustive look at some of the most important families of timepieces in history (Episode 1 featured the entire collection of perpetual calendar chronographs from Patek Philippe, and Episode 2 featured the Rolex Paul Newman Daytona). In this episode, we examine the legendary Omega Speedmaster, a watch that has become a brand unto itself over the last 50 years. We'll examine the origins of the Speedmaster, its progression into the "space watch" that we know today, and how it has evolved over the years. 1 OF 30 I will begin by pointing out what this is not. This is not a look at every watch to wear the Speedmaster name, but rather those that we would classify as true "moon watches" – meaning those with a manually wound movement from Lemania, three registers, and no date. Thinking about buying an Omega Speedmaster. Don't know much need advice.
Hey all, I'm looking at buying a used Omega Speedmaster caliber 1140 from a private owner here in Toronto. The watch doesn't come with box or papers and hasn't been serviced for 3-4 years. The owner wants $1250 for it which seems like a pretty good deal. So let me know what you guys think in regards to the price and this specific model of Speedmaster.
Heads up - uk prices
Just come back from my AD and was told as of Monday Patek are reducing prices by 10% !Given bought 5167 in summer 2013 and 5146g ( lucky that was with deep discount ) last year I feel abit annoyed but hey I have enjoyed the watches so guess just roll with it .At 21700 Rrp the 5712a with tiny discount on top is looking very tempting :-)
Rolex Crown Logo On The Glass
I think it's not discussed before . Well, It's not a big deal but I would like to learn from experts why some models in Rolex there is a subtle hard to spot Rolex Logo where it is at 6 o'clock and on some models not For instance: My DATEJUST II as the image illustrates there is no logo , nor is it SS YM II .Unlike these two GMT MASTER II BLNR has got the tiny Rolex Crown Logo whereon it corresponds at that VI or 6 o'clock
