The Lew & Huey Riccardo Needs a Kickstart
We're always glad to see people trying to make new and affordable mechanical watches, and we're happy to help spread the word when they are using Kickstarter or other crowd-sourcing platforms to fund their project. This most recent project that was brought to my attention is of particular note, because the watch isn't just a mechanical, it's an automatic chronograph, which is especially difficult to make affordably. The problem, naturally, is a lack of movement options.This is the challenge that Lew & Huey watches set before themselves when trying to make their first watch, the Riccardo. Their solution, of course, is to use a Seagull ST1940 caliber automatic chronograph. Much like the ST1901, which you can find in the Seagull 1963 or the Techn�� Sparrowhawk, the ST1940 is a column-wheel chrono movement with blued screws and various other decoration, as well as 33 jewels. Hi guys, is it true the blue dial chrono is only available at boutiques? if so what would be an appropriate discount to expect?Also have heard you can sometimes get a table clock thrown in, has anyone had any experience with that?

Advice on first Speedmaster - Thoughts on 2009 38mm Day-Date & Ors
I'm in the market for a Speedmaster. I like most of them, but as cost is an issue I'm looking at buying the cheapest model I can get. I haven't spoken to an AD yet but was curious what the new price was (rrp) for an 'entry level' speedy.I've also come across a second hand Steel Speedmaster Day-Date 3220.50.00 2009 model at a jeweler that's probably 9 or 9.5 out 10 and they want $2,590 for it. Is this a fair price? or would this be quite close to the new price of a more basic model post haggling?Looking on Chrono24 I seem a bit unsure where prices should sit.I gather this particular day-date is 38mm. I have a 6.75 wrist and get on fine with my 40mm Rolex Sub and 44mm Panerai 112, am I likely to find the day-date unwearably small, my gut says no, but thoughts welcomed. Finally I haven't seen much by way of comments or reviews on the day-date, especially older models - anyone have an opinion I can factor into my thought making process?Thanks in advance.

inner debat about explorer 2 vs gmt
I have a inner-struggle wheter to buy a gmt master or a explorer 2(new version) I like the watches both, and actually i love the explorer 2 very much for its fact that it fly's under the radar to... Now pricevwise there could be a difference, but i am very unsure if thats significant enough. What discount can one expect on a exp 2 when buying brand new from an AD or reputable grey market dealer? What kinda price should i expect to find when i buy slightly used(2015 or so)I know the gmt has a long wait list in the first place and in the second place is mostly more expensive than the list-price anyway.... I know also the price retaining of a gmt 2 is ways better... But as i said, i love both watches a lot.. But i try out to find the positives and negatives between these 2 beauties...My currently only Rolex is a 114060The exp 2 and gmt batman are the only 2 watches atm that really brings a factor to my soul.
