AP 5402 future investment piece
Where do you see an AP 5402 in terms of future value? Likely to increase or decrease in value? Seems to me that compared to a 3700 Nautilus the 5402 is an absolute bargain C And the original Genta designI am contemplating letting a few pieces go to get my hands on one. Not too worried about the caliber or anything as these have been around for +40 years and are still being used in the 15202 to this day.Just like to hear people in the AP games opinion on these watches?
Incoming.......Omega Planet Ocean 600M 42mm
Well after much debate and vacillating back and forth, I FINALLY made the plunge and purchased a BNIB Omega PO 600m 42mm from a Trusted Seller here on the forum. I got it at a great price and traded in one of my Breitling to offset some of the pain.It bares mentioning, I was really concerned with the case thickness as everyone is well aware of, so it does not bare repeating. But I have to say that the main decisions for pulling the plug were two-fold. First, it was increasingly hard to find a well cared for previous model 2500-series PO, especially a 2500D model (just to obtain a thinner case size). And the more important factor was getting into a new timepiece with the newest 8500 movement. Obviously things like a ceramic bezel and improved bracelet didn't hurt the decision making either.Sooooooo......to that end, I am in day two of ownership and things are looking & feeling great. Bracelet was a piece of cake to adjust (2-links removed on each side) and so far I am very ple

Rolex Going Upmarket?
One often stated theory here to explain the dearth of stainless steel sports models in stores is that Rolex is trying to go upmarket a' la Philippe Patek. My numbers below aren't exact, but I'm just trying to theorize about how this strategy would work for Rolex.PP sells what...about 60,000 watches a year? Rolex sells maybe 800,000 watches per year? What percentage of each metal? Two-thirds TT/SS and one-third PM? I'm guessing its even less PM than that. So is there really a market for Rolex to stop selling 500,000 TT/SS watches and sell, let's say, 150,000 additional PM watches instead (to make about the same revenue as it does now)?Rolex's most popular model is something like a 36mm TT Datejust for around $10,600. I'm not sure that Rolex will be able to go upmarket and sell the quantity of watches it would need to in order to maintain its current revenue while turning its back on its icon. And if Rolex wants to move upmarket while still selling s decent amount of its iconic TT Datej
