Rolex Paul Newman Daytona Ref. 6241 Exotic Dial Watch Available On James List
The Paul Newman Daytona - next to the Submariner range, this is of the most well-known collectible Rolex watches out there. There is a sort of mythos around the watch given the ambiguous connection to the movie star/pop culture hero, and the extreme fame that the Daytona collection later had. The story of the Paul Newman Daytona is a bit convoluted and complex. There was not just one watch, and Rolex never officially called any piece the Paul Newman Daytona.Unlike some people out there I am not an expert of Rolex watch history or Rolex collecting. In fact, the high-prices that some Rolex watches fetch at auction make me chuckle. For a better historical observation of the Paul new Daytona I will defer to my friend Jake at RolexMagazinewatches-dealer. He wrote a nice summary of the Rolex Paul Newman Daytona here.My favorite part of the Paul Newman Daytona story refers to the indeterminable nature of collecting. People today strive hard to predict what will become a collector's item - and
Omega Speedmaster 300 'Spectre' Limited Edition Discount
I'm not an Omega fan. However, my best mate back home asked me to ask my Rolex AD here in Singapore, who is also an Omega AD, if he'd be getting the James Bond limited edition piece in.Yep, he's getting one and he's offered me 15% discount without me even asking. Ok, I've sent a lot of business his way but that seems a big discount for a piece that's limited to 7007 and pieces.I'm wondering if I should get one myself at that price.Discuss.
Forgot all about my Speedy, please forgive me....
I must confess I've been all about vintage Rolex sports models lately and mostly only wearing dive watches. I opened up my watch box and looked at my 3572.50 Speedy Pro today and thought its been a while since I even wound this thing, let alone worn it. So I took it out, rubbed some polywatch on the crystal, used a microfiber towel to wipe down the caseback and lugs and wound her up. After just taking a thorough look at it, glaring into the beautiful 1863 movement and remembering all the history behind it. I quickly fell back in love. I decided with the 3572.50 being discontinued and having both the perfect hesalite crystal and the sapphire caseback I plan on keeping this watch forever and a .321 will have to just join in. Well I hope you guys forgive my foolishness of forgetting about wearing this legendary watch, but know its already back in rotation. ~DavidMKII
PP 5270 has stop/ hack second function?
Dear all,Got a 5270G-019 recently and just take it out from the seal and put on wrist today. To my surprise, the CH29-535 PS Q caliber has stop/ hack second second function when pulling out the crown to set time.I thought only a few PP caliber, e.g. the 260 caliber in 5235 has this function.May I ask if other fellow members with 5270 find the same? Thanks!Henry
For the bezel alignment fanatics...
There's a great Instagram account called adpatina that I just discovered from a Time&Tide article. He posts vintage watch ads. Was browsing through them this morning and came across this Tiffany ad showing a GMT. I had to laugh when I noticed the bezel alignment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
