Survey Shows Affluent Losing Confidence in U.S. Economy
The Unity Marketing Luxury Consumption Index took its steepest quarterly plunge since the recession began, falling 16.8 points to 66 points in the second quarter. This is significantly lower than the previous quarter’s 82.8 points. The LCI currently stands close to the level attained at the onset of the Great Recession. Unity Marketing’s LCI is considered to be a leading indicator of the economic activity among affluent households. The survey of 1,272 consumers with an average income of $301,000 and an average net worth of $856,000 was conducted July 6-13.Corresponding to the decline in luxury consumer confidence, the average amount spent by affluent consumers on luxury goods and services in the second quarter declined by 8.4 percent from the first quarter and dropped 18.4 percent year on year. However it’s not all doom and gloom for luxury retailers. Some 42 percent of consumers at the peak of the economic pyramid – those with more than $1 million in liquid asse
Finding the perfect travel companion... Incoming 5164A
I got bitten by the Patek bug just a little over 4 months ago and started off with a 5167. I was quite amazed with how well put together it was with its very sleek profile, stunning anthracite dial and supreme comfortness, dare I say one of the most comfortable watches that I have ever owned. I thought I would live forever in happiness with it, and could wait patiently for a 5712.Well that is, until the 5164 caught my eye. When I think Patek, I think complications, and they've done an amazing job of integrating a very practical complication, and somehow made the piece cleaner and more balanced. I've always loved the idea of having a dual time, and bought a BLNR for that purpose, but found the function not so practical to use with having to unscrew the crown and adjust the local time. So then my search began for one. One thing that I simply could not ignore was the huge price tag on the 5164 - it looked like it was going to be a pretty significant cash top-up from the 5167. After much e
5111G verses 5111PR
I'm looking at buying either the 5111G or the 5111PR. Im just not sure about how the rose gold along the the top and bottom of the face looks on the 5111PR. It looks a bit busy compared to a clean 5111G. Also, I wonder about which one holds their resale value better? Any thoughts?
Missing Warranty Card
Hi guys,My dad has a Rolex that is still under warranty. Basically the watch stopped moving and he needs to have it repaired. The warranty card is in the box but he cannot find it. He brought a copy of the receipt to the service center in Manila, but they insist he needs to bring the warranty card. The watch was bought in Belgium.Does he really need the warranty card to claim the warranty? My understanding is that Rolex would know the details of that watch including the warranty. He is the first owner of the watch and it was bought from an AD.Thank you for your help.
