I Have a G Series Rubber Clad on the Way, Where to Buy New Strap? Pics Once its Here
I have a Rubber Clad on the way. Hopefully this time it will be authentic (for those of you that saw my last post and thanks again for pointing out the replica through the pictures). Pictures will follow once it's here, hopefully today or tomorrow. The band was replaced with a Hornback strap but it shows wear near the mounting pins on one side. Where is a good place to pick up a new or used in good condition authentic AP (possibly hornback again) strap for a somewhat reasonable cost?
5170R a few new pictures and....
A few impressions. After a week with it I'm a very happy owner. The watch is fairly thin, very light and comfortable, looks great especially in early morning and evening light and so far very accurate. For a dressy watch this can easily be worn casually with jeans and a polo shirt and it fits easily under the cuff of a long sleeve shirt. The pushers are smooth as silk, the fly back pusher barely takes any pressure to operate and something I didn't know when I bought it was how the minute counter jumps to the next minute and doesn't move gradually like a 5905 or 5960 or 5980. All my Pateks previously have been automatics but this manual movement is really something to stare at, great finishing and details. My AD has ordered a short matte finish black strap so I'll switch out the shiny one and the tail won't be so long. I saw the white dial vers

Any thoughts on this piece? A friend of mine has preowned one thinking about buying it from him.
Day Date 40 change over problem
I recently posted about my problem with my white metal DD40, which is even now only three weeks old. The change-over at midnight wasn't changing over effectively. Sometimes it switched half an hour late, sometimes more than an hour. And this was on the days when I was actually awake at such ungodly hours. The watch went back to the new UK HQ and service centre in Kent, built on an old wartime airfield and looking like something out of a James Bond film; all brooding smoked glass and concealed doors. Anyway, the problem was apparently that the change-over gears were not properly lubricated. This on a new watch...so even Rolex can get it wrong at times. Can't wait to get it back next week.
