Jean-Frederic Dufour, Current CEO of Zenith, Named New Rolex CEO
A rumor reported on our sister blog, Watch-Insider, this morning, has now been confirmed: Jean-Frdric Dufour, currently the CEO of Zenith, has been named the new global CEO for Rolex SA. An official start date for Dufour, who has been in his position at Zenith since 2009, has yet to be announced. The text of Rolex’s very brief press release, issued today, follows.“Rolex confirms the arrival of Jean-Frederic Dufour, current CEO of Zenith, to ROLEX SA to take over the direction at a date still to be determined, and in agreement with the company’s standing CEO, Gian Riccardo Marini. “All other communication will be released in due course.”Dufour will become the sixth CEO of Rolex, and the fourth since 2008. We will bring you more information as it becomes available. Meanwhile, our colleagues at Monochrome Watches have posted an article about Dufour and Rolex, which includes a (French-language) video interview on Swiss television with the journalist who firs
Looking to add to my Omega collection... Need help choosing....
I have a void in my watch collection that I was planning on filling with a GMTc but that looks to be out of the picture for now. So I need a black dial/bezel timepiece to fill the void. Although there are many other brands that I like as well, I want to stick with an Omega. Here is what I am currently rotating on my wrist...Omega PO 45.5mm ORANGE DIALOmega SMP 41mm L.E. Bond 007 BLUE DIALThat being said, I thought that a S/S Black dial/bezel Speedmaster would be a nice addition since the bracelet would be different than the one on my SMP and the watch is completely different in appearance too.BUT............. I also like the look of the older Black dial Seamaster with the sword hands. I think the Speedmaster is the best choice for me.......I just need some help to push me off the fence.... TRF HELP! :)
Best Chronograph: Speedmaster v. SMP (non-Bond w Sword Hands)
Looking next for a 3 dial chronograph to round out my collection.Lots of Speedmaster info on TRF and is seems like a very good choice. I have tried it on and like the fit and feel.I do like the look of the old style SMP though (I have the 2254.50 and love it).Any advice on the better choice (with reasons) would be appreciated. Also, if you have an alternative chronograph to suggest (it doesn't have to be an Omega) then please do. Pictures would help if possible. I already know about the Daytona (and like it) but it is more than I want to pay right now so I am looking at the under $5K watches. Many thanks.
Seamaster- loud rotor
So, my new to me 2255 has been with me 2 days now. I have noticed I can hear/feel the rotor much more than my Rolex watches. Is this normal, I thought I read somewhere that Omega uses a ball bearing or different mechanism that makes the winding rotor more noticable?Just trying to learn a bit more about the watch. Could a noisy rotor mean it could be due for a service? It appears to be keeping good time.
Am I crazy to sell?
After a long search for a new 114060 in the UK - and frustration with the random rubbish ADs were telling me about wait lists - I finally gave up and bought a new one while on holiday in Cologne in Dec 2017. Even then only one AD in the city had one in stock and they were reluctant to sell it to me. Sadly with the poor exchange rate I paid the EURO tax and effectively bought over UK retail.Cut to today, and I fear I'm going to have to sell it as **IF** I've not been fibbed to I'm getting close to the top of the wait list for a BLNR locally and will need to somehow pay for it **OR** I quite fancy a BB inhouse instead, something I can wear every day without worrying too much about it.I was offered 5100-5300 from a well know watch purchasing company. Of course I would refuse to sell unless they go with 5300, but even at that prie am I crazy to sell at that? Is it worth holding onto it?What do people think?Apologies for the indecision. This is my most expensive watch, and I really pus
