Basel Preview: Bremont P-51 Limited Edition
Bremont is launching the limited edition P-51, a chronograph chronometer built with original parts from the famous 1944 Mustang WWII aircraft P-51K-10 (serial number 44-12016), a Pacific war veteran that bore the name “Fragile but Agile”. Original aluminum from the fuselage is integrated into both the dial and the movement of the timepiece. The dial is inspired by the clocks found in the P-51 aircraft. The 43mm hardened steel Trip-Tick case uses Bremont's B-EBE2000 technology, a stage in the case production process where the metal is bombarded with electrons, increasing the hardness by a factor of nine compared with normal stainless steel used in watch cases. The case also integrates the new rotating ��Roto-Click' inner bezel that houses four ball-bearings inside the case. As with many of Bremont's latest watch designs, the P-51 is assembled the company's atelier in England rather than their workshop in Biel-Bienne in Switzerland, and houses a modified Swiss BE-54A automatic

F. P. Journe announces the Chronom��tre Bleu. The 39mm case is carved from tantalum, a dark gray metal with blue overtones. Tantalum is rarely used in watchmaking because its density and high melting temperature make it difficult to manipulate. Through the display back, the balance and escapement appear mysteriously detached from the movement, beating with no apparent motive force. Journe has placed the connecting train under the dial, leaving only the center wheel to highlight the isolation of the balance. The manually wound movement oscillates at 21,600v/h. Twin barrels work in parallel to deliver stable power for much of its 56-hour autonomy. Does AP ever supply movements to other companies? Someone said Chanel may use AP movements in some of their watches.Can anyone confirm or deny? And if so, are they standard AP movements or something different?TIA,-Marc
