Hublot's Tactic With The Blackeyed Bernie Ecclestone Watch Ad
The first thing that came to mind when I first saw this image in an e-mail from Hublot was "wait, what?" I didn't get it. What was this? At first I thought the image of Bernie Ecclestone was some type of painting. I?am not familiar with his face, but I do know of his work as the guy who runs Formula 1 racing. The British Billionaire's face was distorted with a painful looking black eye and other facial bruises. The 80-year-old was recently violently mugged, and among other things, his Hublot King Power F1 watch was stolen.None of this information was placed in the above image send out by Hublot. In fact, it is entirely cryptic in its messaging. The point of it is simple I think. A beaten up elderly man along with the statement of "See what people will do for a Hublot." Furthering the concept that the watches are so in demand, you'd punch your grandpa for one.Since the release of this image a few days ago, the media has been all over it. Pull the Trigger?
I have a chance to obtain a ceramic diver at 14,800 US. To be honest, I don't love the watch. If I bought it, I'd likely just trade it for a 15202st ultra thin via this forum. What would you guys do in this situation? Are the two watches of relative similar value where I could do this trade easily? To be honest, I'm a bit hesitant with member to member trades. Curious to see other people's experience here.
Need info about my patek
I am new to this site and am hoping to find help with a Patek Philippe 2526 I have which has been in my safety deposit box for years. It is a GUBELIN model in 18kt gold with a solid 18kt gold bracelet band. Years ago I had it authenticated and when inspected the jeweler showed me the gold ingot on a track which rotates to automatically wind the watch. I am now getting on in my years and am considering selling it but am by far no expert or collector just have a few watches I put away years ago. I also have a rolex submariner 18kt gold with a 18 kt gold diver band which I will be asking for help on the rolex thread. All info would be gratefully appreciated and I will attempt to upload pictures if I am allowed due to my being new to this blog. Thanks to all.Larry (bullstone) Stone
