Affordable Vintage: 70's Bulova Deep Sea Chronograph
Over the years, Bulova has produced a boat load of differently styled divers and chronographs. During the 1970’s, they made several different diver chronographs with a variety of case and dial styles. Perhaps the most quintessential of the 1970’s was the Deep Sea Chronograph with “surfboard dial”. Produced for only two years, 1970 and 1971, this chunky diver has all the 1970’s hallmarks. My example was made in 1971, and is in all original condition. The dial is the main attraction here, silvery white with a fantastic blue oval “surfboard” encircling the two chronograph register sub dials. It has thick, applied steel markers with lume filled lines, and unique broad white hands with day-glow orange tips. I once heard someone refer to them as “cigarette” hands as they do resemble a cigarette with an ember at the tip! Speedmaster 9300
Received the new 9300 Speedmaster. It does not sit as high on the wrist as some commentators opined. It is actually very comfortable on the stainless steel. Be careful when taking the screws out to size the bracelet as they are very small, and both sides have to be taken out to remove the sleeve. Very legible dial, and supposedly water resistant down to 330 feet for whomever was asking the question about swimming in their Speedy, although the owner's manual suggests rinsing it off if you have been in Seawater, and not using the chrono buttons under water. My first day, so too soon to tell, particularly for a Rolex guy, but this one seems like a terrific watch right out of the box.
Patek increase to be 14% ...
A little birdy told me today that the Patek increase is looking to be 14% (at least in Canada)... Anyone have any confirmation of this? Looks like at least the Aquanaut/Naut etc will be affected...If this is the case, I'm happy that I bought mine when I did!
Tried calling ADs for grey dealer prices
Has anyone tried calling a bunch of ADs offering to pay in cash for discount a little less than what the grey dealers are selling the similar new models for on TRF? Any luck?Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
