Daily wearer question
Hey all. Would love to hear from the group on what you think would be the better daily wearer. I am thinking between a diver or BB right now. I tend to lean toward the BB (on rubber strap) because of the bezel which I believe would handle abuse better and I'm not a huge fan of the bezek rotate crown on the diver. I do like the (I believe) better resale capabilities of the diver. My current daily driver is a 15300 with an occasional wear of a Patek Aquanaut.
State of my ROO 25721ST
Guys, I haven't been wearing my ROO 'The Very first One' lately. After looking at Wayne's pictures of his recent acquisition that looks just like mine, I decided to pull mine out of the bank today and continue to enjoy wearing it. After I got my Diver, I started wearing this piece less often. Last time I put it on was back in November at the F1 GP of Austin. Today I am reporting the state of my watch:Still some bright lume on it! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1360212780.246494.jpgI also noticed that my pushers are starting to age even though they were just replaced during a service back in 2009. Today, under a 10x loupe I could start to see that the Therban on the pushers is slightly cracking. Just like an old car dashboard in a 1970s Maverick. I love it! Another living proof that I've enjoyed the hell out of this watch. I think I wore this ROO as a daily beater for most 2010 and part of 2011. New-Old Find
Yesterday I found a 14K mechanical wind Omega that I have had since about 1972. It was a gift to me from my Grandmother when she returned from a trip to Europe and Switzerland...it will need a major overhaul and some new parts so any information on who to send it to to do the work would be appreciated. Of course I want original pieces as the the crown is broken and will need to be replaced and then the watch thoroughly checked over. I will post some pictures later today but I am excited about the 'Find' as this is the second wrist watch I have found this year!!!Take it easy......Leo
Waterproof Leather strap for sea diving???
I am looking for a strap for water and day wear, I am going to live in Thailand in a few months so heat, transpiration and swimming will be permanent. I don't like very much the feel of the original Panerai rubber strap on my wrist, nato's are nice but I prefer way more leather straps. There are a few strapmakers that have for sale leather waterproof straps, has anyone already used these straps for this kind of use, for example in places like Florida or others? What are the result, does the strap hold the distance or are they just a little more resistant than a good aftermarket leather strap but no more? Thanks for sharing your experiences about this, I have found a few but the ones from good strapmakers are not cheap, between 180-240 dollars, would hate to spend that kind of money if it only lasts for a few months.
Just picked up a Tudor
Well, I got a new watch itch to scratch and this is one is far less painful on the wallet compare to say.. PP5522A. Overall, it's a lot of watch for the price. And it boast probably the most readable dial in my entire collection due to the snowflake white hands and white indices against a pitch black dial. And the construction says quality despite the modest ( relatively ) price tag. Love the detailing on the deployant clasp and the sturdy brown strap with innner rubber lining. My last Tudor was a Pelagos which unfortunately didn't last very long. But I think this one just might. Have a good week ahead.
