Weekend Report: Inside EAA AirVenture, America's Largest Air Show
The state of Wisconsin might not bring to mind the most exciting or glamorous images, but it is a state with a lot of personality. In addition to boasting amazing micro-brews, world-class cheeses, and one serious football team, the state plays host to the nation's largest air show,?EAA's AirVenture, held annually in Oshkosh. The small town sits about 150 miles north of Chicago, not far from Wisconsin's eastern shoreline, and for one week each year it attracts more than half a million aviation enthusiasts from all over the glob.?Hamilton?is one of AirVenture's sponsors and was kind enough to invite us to the show this year to witness the event first hand. Read on for our full account, and of course some incredible photos. 2 OF 33 Oshkosh is home to around 66,000 people and the quiet community is transformed by AirVenture every summer, when over 500,000 visitors from around the world arrive to be a part of the week's events. New addition....but will be off to APSC Monday for a facial
Just picked up this mint 39mm SS ROC. Been on the hunt for the past year for an H serial that's complete with box and papers. Finally landed one today. Will send it off to APSC on Monday for a dial swap - to the deep navy dial (just like Fred's gorgeous SS ROC). Can hardly wait to get it back. SS RO - which parts are made of precious metal?
So I will soon be posting an incoming thread and will finally be joining the AP club in about a week's time In the meantime I have gone into extreme AP WIS mode So I've been wondering about which parts of the steel ROs are made of precious metals or other exotic materialsAFAIK the bezel/case screws are made of white gold? How about hour markers? White gold as well, like Rolex?Movement rotor is made of 22K gold? Please correct/add as necessary
Vintage Speedmaster service: is this a dilemma?
I own mostly Rolex, thus my joining this forum, but I also love the Speedy and have two of them, one modern, one vintage. The vintage piece is a 145.012-67. I bought it with no known service history. It's in fairly good shape except the hour totalizer is not resetting to zero and running about 25 sec fast per day avg - faster when its worn, not quite as fast when face up off the wrist. Had it for a year now and thought I'd better think about getting it serviced.Upon contacting a recommended watchmaker / service center - now independent, but formerly omega authorized - I was told the following:1. pushers and crown must be replaced (standard)2. crystal must be replaced (standard to restore water resistance gaskets too)3. If there is a lot of mildew or degrading tritium on the dials, the dial should be replaced. #3, the dial, appears to be a deal breaker doesn't it? But the service center says if flakes or dust from degrading tritium markers get into the movement, that is a problem.Wha
Patek 5396R or 5205 R
Hi guys, i am planning to have either one for X Mass and went to PP store and found both with white dial. The 5205 with black dial is on the waiting list. So I tried them and honestly I like both and couldn't decide. I wanted to compare with the 5146 but it was not available. Can you help please. Which one out the 3 would you pick? Cheers
