Swarovski Octea Abyssal Automatic Watch
For the last few years I have really admired the collection of watches from Swarovski. They offered nicely designed quartz watches with a lot of cool personality and prices that aren't totally outrageous. The only problem was that they were all ladies watchesbummer. My favorite model was the Octea Sport. Last year, I heard a rumor that Swarovski was going to release new men's watches - it turned out to be true. For 2012, Swarovski gets three new watch families, all for men. My favorite is the Octea Abyssal Automatic - which is essentially a male version of the Octea Sport that is a super-looking watch for women. The toughest thing that these watches have going for them is the Swarovksi swan logo. You see it on the dial, on the crown, and on the case back. I guess the logo can grow on you, but it isn't very masculine - not that it was ever designed to be.When Chanel first released the J12 they likely had the same issuewhere men simply could not take men's Chanel watches seriously. Is there a "normal" release of PAM690 without the blue dial?
Wondering if there is a non-special edition release of PAM690 without the blue dial? With or without the crown guard.I like the layout of the dial and want to see if there are alternatives. :)
I love my AD.
So, 2 weeks ago I walk into this new-to-me AD. I browse their selection and see wow, they have a sub date in stock. I ask if it's available and they say oh yes, we have two in stock. So I buy it. Even get 5% discount.Anyways, I ask, just out of curiosity, about the availability of a few other pieces that are hard to get. They say maybe they can surprise me.Two days ago I get the call, went to pick it up today. 5% discount again.
Fluted bezel is the ugly older brother of the ceramic bezel watches
I read several posts on the forum saying stuff like I was looking for a submariner and they only had some datejusts and the AD would sell me a ceramic Daytona only if I take a daydate. Everybody talks about the short in supply of sport rolexes. I'm the proud owner of both ceramic sub (ND) & 41 TT DJ on a jubilee bracelet. I wear the sub to work and at home and weekends I wear my DJ. I like both of them & can't see how one is better than the other. Furthermore, my next purchase will probably be a 36 SS DJ.When I first came to the AD I asked for a submariner (naturally). I told him that I want a classic sturdy watch. He told me sure no problem I'll order for you a sub, but if you want a classic, sturdy Rolex it has to be a DJ. After wearing them both I really can't understand the imbalance...I see collector that own several subs & GMTs & not a single fluted bezel jubilee bracelet treat. How come?
