Swiss Competition Commission Opens New ETA Investigation
Swatch Group announced yesterday that the Swiss Competition Commission (COMCO) has opened a new investigation against ETA Manufacture Horlogre SA. The Swatch Group statement notes that this is not the first time that the COMCO has investigated a company of the Swatch Group, and that the Swatch Group is confident that the results of this investigation will again be positive for ETA (a reference to an investigation in 2003 that was resolved by an agreement between ETA and COMCO). The Swatch Group announcement goes on to state:“However, the timing for such an investigation seems unfortunate. Since approximately one year, the majority of the external ETA clients have massively cancelled or postponed their orders, without any consideration for the ETA personnel, its infrastructure nor the investments which have been considerable also at ETA due to the continuous pressure of the COMCO as a consequence of the complaints from third parties.(Ad hoc translation from the German original)So
Just a plain shot
of an attractive watch.
My one complaint about the 5164....
Hello everyone here at TRF! I've been mulling over this post for some time wondering if I should even start a thread like this. I am a person who always tries to focus on the good aspects of people and things and ignore the negatives. That is especially true when discussing an item like a Patek Philippe watch which is truly as close to perfection as one can expect from a man-made item. All that said, I am really struggling to get past one issue with the watch that is driving me up the wall.....the incredibly loud (relatively speaking) rotor noise. Now I know this issue has been raised before. For whatever reason, the 324 movement is a noisy movement. Now, I have owned the 5167 Aquanaut in the past and it seems that the movement in the 5164 is even more noticeable and it's really taking away from my enjoyment of the watch. As a matter of fact, I was in a meeting the other day. The room was somewhat quiet as someone was presenting. When suddenly the guy sitting next to me said he
Black 116520 and SS Skydweller or WG BLRO
I've only had 1 watch in the past 8 years, the 116520. I 've been wearing it almost everyday. Now there's an itch I have to scratch. I can either trade in the Daytona+Cash for a pre owned WG BLRO or add a SkyD to my collection of 1. My rationale for the BLRO is that I can only wear 1 watch at a time, so might as well go all in. Daytona and SkyD, I don't have to let go of my Daytona.I understand that there's a significant price difference between the 2 options, but I'm willing to save more (and wait more). I'm interested on your opinions. Cheers!
Went into a Rolex AD in Cabo - Possibly some insider information
Im in Cabo for vacation right now and happened to see a Rolex sign. Walk in and this store has just about every high end watch in 1 place. I'm talking like Hublot, ton's of Panerai, Cartier, AP, and a lot of cheaper ones like Gucci/etc. But best of all, a pretty nice stock of Rolexes. Literally the biggest stock of Rolex I've ever seen at an AD in person. Seemed to have everything besides the BLRN, Hulk, SS daytona, and SS Subs.I get to talking with the sales guy for like an hour and a half. I asked about price increases, he said he wasn't really worried about them because 'yes they're coming, but might not be till end of the year and it wont be significant'. -Now that just threw me off, because the local ad (in South Dakota) was freaking out saying shortage/AHHHH/:omg:/etc and prices are going to increase 10-22% probably around April.Asked about the shortage and again he's like yeah they're limiting supply on Professional models or at least making them harder to get unless you have a
